My Husband and I purchased a home from Tidewater Homes in March, 2016. Shortly after moving into the home our flooring began separating from the slab. It was caused by excessive moisture penetrating the slab. Over time, the
problem has gotten worse. Moisture from the slab has also caused excessive mold growth. It is now May, 2018. Tidewater has not fixed the problem. We retained an engineer who advised us that Tidewater Homes did not place a vapor barrier under the entire slab as required by the building code. When I made Facebook posts about our terrible experience with Tidewater Homes, they sued me
and my Husband for Defamation. We retained a lawyer. Based on the advice ofour engineer and lawyer, we filed a counterclaim against Tidewater for the construction defects. Tidewater accused us of filing a frivolous counterclaim. They filed a motion to have the counterclaim dismissed and threatened to seek sanctions against us. Earlier this week, the Judge denied Tidewater's motion to dismiss our counterclaim. In the mean time, excessive
moisture is still penetrating our slab; our flooring is still separated from the slab; and we still have excessive mold due to the excess moisture. Choosing Tidewater Homes is the worst mistake we've ever made.
