Dr. Madfis is no longer my primary care physician. When his office called me yesterday to confirm my appt for today, they informed me that I had a bill fo $283. I asked what the bill was for, and she replied that it was for my last appt, in March of 2013. I asked her why they did not send me a bill, and she replied that they just give the patient the bill the next time they come in. I told her I was coming in today to get a new prescription for a different blood pressure medicine, and I would talk to her about the bill then. When I got there, Dr. Madfis's son told me I had to pay the bill today, and I told them I couldn't, but I would be glad to come in and pay them next week when I got paid. I told them I had no idea that I owed them any money because I never got a bill. Dr. Madfis said they would re-schedule my appt for next Thursday. I said "no, I took this afternoon off for this appt, and I do not want to take another afternoon off. I then told him I just wanted to get a prescription for a different blood pressure medicine, and he said I couldn't see Dr. Madfis until next Thursday unless I paid the bill today. When I told him I was out of my medicine, neither of them could have cared less. So, I told them I would only see them next Thursday to pay my bill, and that I was going to get a new doctor. Apparently he cared more about his money (that I didn't even know I owed him) than he did about my health! I now have a new primary care doctor !
