I hope that you're reading this BEFORE you enter into any agreement with this phoney! The negative reviews were not present when I enlisted his services. He must have scammed several of us during the months of October/November 2016. Promises he made: He only works one job at a time; Had two employees; would complete the job in six days; would show me samples on my wall of the trims; would complete work through the finished painting. NOT ONE OF THESE PROMISES WERE TRUE!
He had one excuse after another, he would say: I have to pick up supplies; my daughter is sick; I am sick; I'm priming the wood in my shop; I have to go special order the door.....and on and on. His presence was minimal over a three week period until he finally says I won't be back for 8 days, I have a job in Ft Lauderdale. We gave this conman thousands and he left us in a mess. For what it was worth we told him we no longer needed his services however I do believe he had no intention of returning. He is also known as "mac" LD Mcdaid, Leslie Mcdaid, Dave McDaid.

This person is a poser. Don't use him or give him any money upfront. He is an expert at ripping people off. He took my money for a job he was suppose to do and I haven't heard from him and the money I gave him was cashed at an unknown location. Beware! Someone recommended him to me and i took their word instead of researching. After researching I would of never of called Dave.

Work was OK but not completed. Doesn't return phone calls, doesn't show up on time or doesn't show up at all. Would not recommend.

BAD WORKMANSHIP-SEE PICTURES! TOOK MONEY & DIDN'T COMPLETE WORK! NO LICENSE OR VALID BUSINESS IN FLORIDA! I read reviews before hiring Dave (DBA: LD McDaid/Jacksonville Crown & Trim). Coincidentally, his website began June, 2016 & most of his 5 star reviews were written that month too. He claimed to be in business for 10+years. Initially, he appeared professional on the phone & arrived on time to the meeting to provide an estimate, claimed to be licensed & insured, and bragged about being top rated on yellowpages.com. He never provided his license or insurance in over 30 days on the job, despite numerous requests. That was our mistake! After taking our large deposit, he was difficult to contact, hardly showed up to work, didn't do the work as stated in the contract, tried to raise the price halfway through, tried to collect $ early before work was done, & every day showed up late, left early, or didn't show up at all, claiming bad weather, car accidents, doctor's appointments, & more. He said 10 day turnaround, & now it's been over 30 days & still isn't complete. Dave left a huge mess every day & even cut with his saw INDOORS without permission. He damaged drywall, costing me hundreds of dollars in repairs. Dave’s cuts weren’t straight, installation wasn’t level, & joints & corners were some of the worst in the business. He cussed regularly, used vulgar language directly to me as a customer, & interfered with other work crews. Whenever my husband & I tried to question him about the project not getting done or not looking right, he would literally yell at us & tell us our "ideas are stupid", we “didn't know anything about it & just let him do his job.” I hired an expert wood craftsman to assess Dave's work & provide me their expert opinion. They told me Dave skipped steps, some wasn’t safe, couldn’t be fixed & had to be removed & rebuilt from scratch. Dave confessed to another work crew in my own home that he already took other jobs and was just stringing us along.

BEWARE! JACKSONVILLE CROWN & TRIM IS NOT A VALID COMPANY!! WE LOST THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS!! Dave McDaid/LD McDaid/Jacksonville Crown and Trim ARE NOT FOUND on Angie's List, NOT FOUND in Sunbiz by owner's name or company's name as a valid business, partnership, or corporation, NO LICENSE (for either Dave or either company) IS ON FILE IN FLORIDA, and HE IS NOT FOUND BY THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. Do your research, and demand his license, bond, and insurance up front prior to even receiving a quote or setting an appointment. Please protect yourself! WE LOST THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO THIS COMPANY! If you choose to work with him or are already in the middle of work with him prior to reading this review, please FOR YOUR OWN PROTECTION, only do it one room at a time and make sure he completes each room prior to moving on to any projects. For us, he jumped from project to project and collected 1/2 of the money up front for each, then acted like there were hang ups and needed more money in order to complete and then stopped showing up and FINISHED NOTHING--not even 1 room was ever completed!! New wood trim companies don't want to come behind bad work, so we had a DIFFICULT TIME finding a reputable company that was even willing to finish our molding and trim work cause DAVE'S WORK WAS SO BAD!! It cost us thousands in losses to Dave, plus thousands to do drywall repair and hire people to fix and complete his shoddy work.

We just had crown molding and wainscot installed throughout our entire house with JC&T. These guys were awesome. Dave met with us several times before we had even confirmed to have his company do the work, and he basically sketched out designs for each room that were amazing. By just the attention he paid to us before the job we knew we couldn't choose another company. And we are so happy we did. Like other reviewers here, we couldn't recommend him more. It's hard to find someone who takes pride in their work, but Dave from Jacksonville Crown and Trim certainly does. We're finishing up a big addition project 9second story) and have worked with many contractors during the past 6 months. I wish that they all had the integrity, honesty, skill, and service that I got from this company. If I have any carpentry, trim, or home improvements to do in the future, this will be the FIRST person that I call. Super satisfied with everything! I will recommend to my friends and family (and coming from me, that is a BIG statement!). Thanks so much for the outstanding job. Looking forward to working with you again.

We had crown molding and wall frame wainscot installed in our home 6 weeks ago. We had several 'tradesmen' come out for estimates. They had no idea what they were talking about. Dave from jax crown came out. He was the only guy we felt comfortable with. Was extremely knowledgeable and very professional. His estimate was slightly higher than others we received, but you get what you pay for and he was so worth it. He never wore his shoes in our house, constantly vacuumed and kept the place spotless while he worked and was so fast. I guess thats what happens when you actually know what you are doing. The reason I have decided to write this review is because its almost two months later and we were called yesterday just to follow up that everything was good now that the wood has settled, or did they need to come back for free to retouch any caulk. That my friends, is service. My wife and I could not recommend him or his company more.
