First let me say - I never write reviews. However, the extraordinary eye care I have received recently from Dr. Steven Lancaster was beyond my expectations. I had not had an eye exam in over 5 years (big mistake). Upon a thorough exam by his very professional and efficient staff, I then met with "Dr. Steve". He was all business when it came to my diagnosis. The eye pressures in my eyes were 34 & 38 respectively. That indicated I had Glaucoma. He told me that if I didn't get them under control I would eventually go blind. You can imagine my shock. I am a pretty healthy 71 year old male and use my eyes extensively in my day to day life. He immediately prescribed 2 different eye drops to be used twice daily and asked me to come back the next day. But, the next day was Saturday and he is normally not in the office that day. He told me that this was so important he needed to check them before Monday. He made a special trip to meet me at 10 AM. The pressures were down to 18 & 19 respectively. He was pleased but said he wanted them down to 10 if possible. He had me try another eye drop and asked me to return on Tuesday (his next scheduled day in the office). He also said that he wanted me to meet with Dr. Samara their Glaucoma specialist. It has been 3 months now since I first went to Atlantic Eye Institute. I have had several follow-up visits to check my pressures (now consistently measuring 14 in both eyes) and to diagnose the damage the Glaucoma has caused. I intend to have cataract surgery and possibly eye stints in the near future. Due to the superb care I have been given by Dr. Steve and his staff and their caring, professional attitudes, I will have my surgery at Atlantic Eye Institute. Dr. Steven Lancaster's professionalism, caring attitude and personal concern is awesome. He will not disappoint you!

Dr. Lancaster is outstanding in terms of patient care. I moved down to Jacksonville about 5 years ago and found he and Atlantic Eye Institute. Competent, caring, willing to take the time to explain what is needed for your eyes. Recently I had a very bad eye infection and he was amazing! Came in on the weekend, checked in on me even as I had to have a cornea transplant from another doctor. I am glad to recommend him anytime. Feel free to contact me re: this referral by responding.
