Welcome to Jacksonville's oldest restaurant! This hometown favorite has been in the same location since 1939 when Atlantic Blvd. was the only accessible road to the beach. Thus, the name Beach Road Chicken Dinners.

Horrible people working there!Young black hostess was very rude and would not seat us.She got mad when she said you have to sit by front door where the cold air was blowing thru.We ask for a different table PLEASE.She walked away and ignored us.We had to get the manager to serve us.Hostess then came in the area we were seated and started talking S**T about us to the waitress that was taking orders next to us.We were 2 feet away from her doing this. She made racist comments about "I hate white people"!After 30 years of going to this place,NEVER AGAIN!!Sad thing to see,we use to love coming here.

Every time I go to Beach Road ...

Every time I go to Beach Road Chicken Dinners, I am taken back to 1964, when I moved here as a little girl. The food reminds me of my grandmother's cooking and the atmosphere reminds me of her home. Whenever I get the craving for fried chicken or just really good home-style food, my husband and I make the drive from Julington Creek to Beach Road, because no where else seems to quite satisfy. The food, service, atmosphere, and memories all deserve far more than five stars.

Could only work there for one ...

Could only work there for one shift. Refused to go back after I saw the way things were ran. NOBODY washes their hands. The only sink available is in the bathroom and your not always able to use it because of workers prolonged drug binges that take place inside. I didnt see a single pair of gloves all night. Your chicken gets touched and re touched by everyone in the kitchen THEN your waitress before it gets brought out to you. Including your fries and biscuits. Well really EVERYTHING gets touched because there arent ANY gloves. They try to skimp people on chicken by leaving out a piece and when people complain they get mad. The owner felt that everytime he had to talk to me he needed to grab my arm and jerk me around. I saw multiple employees come and trade money with a server and ask to meet out back before they got off. DRUGS. Its like highschool.. but on crack. I use to LOVE this place thats why i tried to work there. But i refuse to serve disgusting food to customers that are paying a premium. Also no employee discount.

ABSOLUTELY THE BEST FRIED CHICKEN ANYWHERE!

We've enjoyed "Beach Road" fried chicken for decades - it is THE most delicious - and their extraordinary standards have remained superb. We can't get enough of it, despite our best efforts to get there at least once a week! Many kind thanks for all the years of the best fried chicken we've ever had!

Beach Road Chicken is a landmark in Jacksonville. They serve delicious fried chicken for a very cheap price. Dinners come with mashed potatoes, rice and gravy, biscuits, french fries, and pea soup - all of which are refilled for free. My family has been going to this restaraunt for 60 years. If you want a taste of Jacksonville, this is the place for you.

Best Fried Chicken in the World!

Folks, Im telling you, there is no better fried chicken in the world. I have lived in Jacksonville for 4 years on only heard about this place 2 weeks ago. I have been three times since then. Some people say its as good as their mommas. Mine never made chicken like this! My Granny made the best I thought; until now. Unlimited sides are mashed potatoes, gravy or rice (or French fries not recommended - youd miss out on the gravy), creamed peas and biscuits. They also have fried corn (whole cob), fried okra, and more. They have a platter for two with 2 pieces of fish, 6 shrimp and 4 pieces of chicken for about $20. I dont recommend this because chicken is what they do best and it is fresh; the fish and shrimp are not. This little jewel opened in 1939 and is still going strong. With red and white checkered table cloths with acrylic tops protecting the menus, this place is very popular with the locals. Half a chicken (4-piece) with 4 sides and biscuits is $7.99 and if you dont want the sides you can get it for $6.13. There is no competition so I wont mention names of others who lamely attempt this feat of perfection. I drive twice the distance for take-out, but love to dine in for the cook-to-order hot, crispy and moist meal. The service is friendly, prompt and they keep an eye on you in case you want refills. Simply the best fried chicken you will ever have.

Great food without atmosphere

I love the food here! Hot tasty and not expensive. Probably the best fried chicken I've ever eaten and the creamed peas are to die for. However this is not the place to take a prom date or anyone you want to impress beyond the food. Its plain, crowded and unimpressive. Obviously the emphasis is on the food and not the dining experience. But thats not a bad thing
