The Records Section, managed by the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, is responsible for the orderly keeping and efficient processing of all reports, requests and firearm permits. Located in Jackson, Mich., the department is staffed with clerks and deputies. The Jackson County Sheriff's Department works in partnership with the citizens of Jackson County and enhances the quality of life. Its investigative unit is responsible for the investigation of all felony crimes that are not resolved by primary reporting officers. The department s crime prevention unit offers a multitude of services to reduce the potential of criminal activities at the workplace, home and community. The Jackson County Sheriff's Department also features a specialized marine unit that enforces marine safety laws on more than 20 lakes and over five rivers located within the county.
