This guy's a total jackass. Did an appraisal for me and it came back low. Found out it's because he compared my house to 5 others, none of which were in the same school district as me! When I called him to question this, he said "well, they're close." Screw him. If your bank tells you he's your appraiser, call them and tell them you want someone else!

Stephen Kastronis of PA Appraisal Services performed an appraisal for us through S & T Bank for a Home Equity Line of Credit. We paid just under $160,000 for our house 10 years ago and just had it re-appraised through Citizen's Bank for $167,000 (which we still thought was a little low). Either way, Mr. Kastronis' appraisal came back at $142,000!!! We gave Mr. Kastronis a whole list of recent updates we did worth tens of thousands of dollars, including a new roof with 50-year transferable warranty, new windows, new doors, a complete bathroom remodel, internal and external french drains, etc., but he apparently felt that our home DECREASED in value by $18,000! He is totally incompetent...Do yourself a favor and DO NOT go through this company for an appraisal, nor waste almost $400 paying for an appraisal through S & T Bank if these are the caliber of people they're going to hire.
