I utilized this service for taxes and payroll (same owner) for tax year 2015 and payroll for Q1 and Q2 2016. First, the taxes were inaccurate. I was sent a bill from the IRS with an adjusted payment. This is the largest infraction. He did not redo the tax forms or verify any of this when I asked his what the bill was about. Then received notice that the S-corp filing incorrect and that my tax status was inaccurate. This was also met with radio silence. Payroll issues also occurred. He held my funds in his escrow for months without depositing for IRA and 529s. I lost 25% of my IRA investment capability in 2016 based on his timing. I informed them I was going to move to another service starting July 1, 2016. Met with radio silence. We spent 6 weeks trying to get the spread sheets and tax copy. They agreed to sent, never did. This became a cost to me since the new services had to spend billable time to recreate tax records for Q1/2 payroll taxes and verify with the state.

We drive all the way from Bloomington to get our taxes done at My Accountant. I suspect that how well you like it may have to do with what your needs are and what your expectations are, but we have found them to be very helpful to us. We are terribly disorganized and we are often helped with figuring out what is missing from our things - and sometimes getting past years done when we didn't get around to them. The other thing is, I have sat in their waiting room and seen the absolute compassion that Mr. Musgrave has shown worried folks who he was helping. I saw one woman once who was very stressed about the fact that she could not afford her tax bill and he was lovely in his ability to reassure her and walk her through the steps of how to make it work. I recommend them highly for personal taxes. I do not have a business, so I do not know how they fair with business taxes. I just know that they have been doing our taxes since 2009 or so and have had very good experiences with them.

We have utilized Patrick Musgrave's services since 2008. In addition to a large number of glaringly obvious grammatical errors, A LOT of inexcusable errors - our employees' tax papers being sent to other people, the tax papers of other company's and individual's being sent to us, etc - that we should never have let slide, we recently (April 2014) noticed a lot of money was taken out along with payroll taxes that hasn't ever been explained. In fact, he seems to be refusing any contact. Then there was the fact that those pesky 2010 taxes he said he filed - and gave us copies of - never managed to get to the IRS. But the oddest thing of all is the fact that he won't just release an unlocked backup of the QuickBooks that we accessed through him. It's almost as though there's something he's hiding.
