Don't listen to these people. You don't go to the gym to use the restroom and the locker room. You go to pump iron. This gym has everything you need to get in shape. Only downfall at all is the amount of members they have but I go at 8pm so it's a little slower.

Run for your life! Worst experience as a member EVER. Nothing but lies since I have signed up. The only two things I like about LA Fitness is the multiple locations around town (not that you can access them all without an extra fee) and facility (cleanliness and equipment). Staff and management are terrible and rude at times, especially when calling corporate. Whenever you have an issue, you are given the run around and are told to call back when the supervisor is in (hint: the supervisor is never in). I was told when I signed up I would have multi-unit access at no extra cost (since I travel for work). The guy who signed me up told me to call the supervisor in a few days and he would approve it. When I called back, the supervisor told me I had to wait 30 days before changes could be made to my account ... I wasn't told that when I initially signed up, but I waited. I called several times after the 30 days to get in touch with the supervisor and never could. When I requested a call back, I never received it. So, I decided to call corporate. Surely they could help me! Wrong. I was given the same speech about how I could pay extra for multi-unit access. When I explained to him I was told when I signed up that I could get multi-unit for free, he asked if I had written proof. Of course I didn't. In the meantime, I had been charged $5 for every visit to another facility, so I asked the guy at corporate that those charges be reversed from my account. He told me that he would take them off my account. Guess what? The charges were never taken off my account, but I am not surprised. After all that, I called the local gym by my house since I moved recently to get my "home club" address changed, so I can go to the one by my house since clearly I won't be getting multi-unit access. Guess what? They can't change your "home club" address, but you can pay a fee to get multi-unit access or pay $5 for every visit to a LA Fitness that is not your "home club." One other point that I forgot to mention about when I first signed up. They will ask you if you want a free fitness assessment. Say "no" unless you want to get conned into paying extra for personal training sessions. I made the mistake of saying yes and reserved a Saturday appointment. The lady was 30 minutes late, didn't apologize when she finally arrived, and the first words out of her mouth was, "I don't want to waste your time or mine, but if you aren't interested in personal training, then there is no use in me telling you about our program." Obviously, I was frustrated about wasting part of my Saturday, but I calmly told her I was not interested in personal training. When I told her I had not yet been given a tour of the facility, she pointed towards the equipment and told me that was pretty much it, but she could show me around IF I REALLY WANTED HER TO. Obviously, she was not interested in giving me a 10 minute tour of the gym which would've made me feel more welcome, so I told her if I had questions, I would ask a fellow member to show me around. Long story short, if you like getting charged fees for EVERYTHING and poor customer service, become an LA Fitness member. Be prepared to pay the extra multi-unit fee because no matter how you spin it, you'll be paying it at some point. Me on the other hand? I will be taking my business elsewhere. I'm sorry I was tricked into becoming a member at this money-hungry, sketchy company.

This gym is going worst every day.

The first time I came here I was very exited. But now I just feel bad about this place. The men's looker room is really stinky, the restrooms without paper and dirty. No soap. A lot of the cardio machines are out of order. The cleancy foam container is empty all the time.
And the initiation fee is so high.
I don't know no body tell me about all those inconveniences.

Unethical Business Practices

When I signed up with LA Fitness I felt like I had to haggle throughout the entire process just to get a fair membership rate and not have to pay the ridiculous initiation fees. Then you get a complementary training session, and of course you’re pressured to sign up and once again have to haggle to get the initiation rates reduced. Interested in the idea of having a personal trainer I was hesitant because I knew my job wasn’t stable and I understood the terms of the contract. After mentioning that I didn’t want to committee to the 12 month contract, the sales associate told me that if I had to relocate he would be able to terminate the contract on his end. Whether he mis-spoke or he unethically lied to make a sale, needless to say I relocated (2 weeks later), without an LA Fitness in a 40 mile radius. Was he able to terminate it? Nope. Instead, he ignored all 6 of my phone calls and messages. His supervisor at least returned a call, but even he said I was misinformed and that that wasn’t a possibility. I am now waiting to hear from the VP of the Glendale (Indianapolis) location, but something tells me that I’ve not only been taken advantage of but that LA Fitness does not operate following ethical business practices. Thank you LA Fitness, if I get stuck in this contract I will be out a few grand—all because you operate unethically and have hired incompetent people to your staff.

Out of towner

Was not impressed with staff. I live out of town and workout 6 days a week. Usually when on the road I can find a gym that has week passes not this place. Outrageous fees for just one day to use the gym. Not recommended for someone looking to get a workout in while on the road.

STOP CALLING ME

One of the guys there came to my work and asked would you be interested in coming to LA Fitness. I said well I might be. He gave me his name and his number and he took mine. I thought okay well I might want to join, but i wanted to think about it. The next day he called me, I was busy and didn't answer. This was about a week and 1/2 ago and ever since he has called and called me every day! It is annoying and I will definitely not be joining this place! Do not give out your number to these insane people!! I have never had a person be so consistent- you would think they would get the hint, I am not interested! Be aware!
