Crooks!!! Read the reviews and think hard before you go..

Office staff have attitudes and make up their own rules.
they enter without your permission and when complained nothing was said, and no apology.

They also, will threatened you with eviction in a heartbeat..
Overall, Crooks that won't fix anything or take care of any infestations such as the many mice that I killed and stink bugs and thankfully I had only seen 1 roach and it was dead.

I wouldn't bother but, it is your choice...

Big dump. Be sure to ask to see your actual apt b4 renting. They show u a decent looking "model" townhouse. Get u to sign into a lease then put you up in a dump. Re ts over priced for these ran down dumps. Walls r all f up. Bad drywall n plaster jobs. They don't clean b4 u move in. And the office staff don't care. Refuse to fix walls. Looks like some whole n the wall u can rent for 300 dollars somewhere. Don't do it!

These people are crooks

This is the management company for Horizons Apartments in Indianapolis. If cheap is what you want, you'll get it here! Cheap rent, cheap apartment, crappy maintenance and rude office help. The apartments are very old, outdated and trashy. Maintenance has obviously been very poor for a long time!! Don't trust the demo apartment, ask to see the actual one you will live in before signing a lease. Also, make sure you get a walk through inspection before you move in and before you leave as they don't routinely offer this evidently!! Make sure you notate everything as they are going to charge you for stuff that was wrong before you moved in, and they're going to charge you 20 times what it costs to fix it! Between tenants, they don't even change the carpet but they will bill you to replace it! Also make sure you disconnect your utilities with the appropriate companies yourself as they won't do it but you will still be responsible for the bill. I wrote another review on here but under Horizons Apartments. I suggest reading it as well. Good luck! You will need it if you rent off these people!!!

we need a class action lawsuit against this place!

These people are a bunch of crooks! My stepdaughter and her boyfriend lived here for a year. They always paid their rent on time and left their place very clean but now are being charged $1200 in fees! This is on top of their deposit, the additional pet deposit they paid (plus an extra $20 every month on top of their rent), and she wrote them a check for an additional $200 when they moved out!! I saw their apartment the first day they moved in and it was obviously not taken care of prior to that. The carpet was old, dirty and stinky and you could tell the walls had been painted and patched (poorly) several times. The ceiling above the stairs was the same - obviously patched and painted many many times since you can't get any furniture upstairs without tearing it up. It's a horrible design that was obviously built a long time ago when people and furniture were much smaller than now. Their cars got broken into while living there, people were always partying everywhere and there were always stray cats everywhere. It seemed like every other week something was broke and non-existant would be a nicer way to describe their maintenance team than how pathetic and terrible they really were. I've been doing some research online on this company and although I was already disgusted with them, I am very disturbed now also. There are many stories out there of people who have had astronomical charges after moving out of here. I say we all need to get together and start a class action lawsuit against these crooks - Horizons themselves, the management and Barrington Group Incorporated. They never did a walk through at move out - I thought this was supposed to be done! And they had to do the inital walkthrough when they moved in by themselves. Thank goodness my stepdaughter is one smart cookie and notated everything plus kept a copy of it. Any of you considering moving in this place need to make sure you document anything and everything!! You may pay dearly for it later if you don't (or even if you do).

Great Place to Live for the Money

Since knowing more about the apartment you are considering is key to finding the right place to live, I will go through everything about the place I currently call home. Horizons is CHEAP. And, unlike many of the other apartments in the area, you can rent up to four bedrooms. There are problems, but I still rate this place exceptional because it's the best place I've ever lived.

When you first arrive at the complex to visit, you notice first hand the groomed landscaping. Horizons cares about your landscaping to maintain a park-like atmosphere. Once a week during spring, summer, and fall, they come through and mow and tidy up the landscaping. You have to make sure your gate is open to welcome the mowers every week, but if it's open, they will mow your small patio area.

For an extra fee, Horizons lets you keep up to two pets. Dogs of any size are okay, but there are a couple of breed restrictions. All cats are okay.

There is a pool and a track with playground. The pool has excellent rules, unlike many apartments I've seen. Parents have to be with their kids . . . no visitors under 16, so you don't have a slew of partying preteens. There is a laundry mat for residents who don't have a washer and dryer in their apartment. Many apartments have w/d hookups. The apartments are total electric.

There is a lot of space outside for the kids to play including empty areas with fresh grass where the boys of the complex and sometimes the girls play football. That is in addition to basketball goal at the playground, which has real playground equipment, not dangerous wooden pieces.

The apartments are okay. Some are small while others are a little more spacious. Kitchens have dishwashers and garbage disposals. Maintenance is very good about coming to the rescue if something goes wrong too. The walls of the apartment are ugly - white with popcorn texture. You are allowed to paint as you want. I think all of the carpets they put in are oatmeal colored.

There are plenty of windows, and all rooms have lighting built in except the living room area. All bedrooms have closet space. Some apartments have extra storage and attics.

People must pass a criminal background check prior to leasing. Some neighbors are really awful, but they move out fast. Horizons is not afraid of evicting people who don't pay the rent, but if you are struggling they work with you. There are also a bunch of dumpsters, which is great because you can clean your apartment and not wait for trash day, and almost every day someone is throwing away good used items that can be reused, freecycled or donated to Goodwill.

There are two great big problems with Horizons. Parking stinks. In addition, the residents can be jerks sometimes, but you usually only run into one or two in your area that need to be avoided. Kids can be a little out of hand, but that's the parents' fault, not the complex. In addition, if the dumpsters are full, some residents are jerks and leave trash on the ground. Maintenance cleans this up quickly, but sometimes you see it and it is repulsive. You can also sometimes hear airplanes and/or traffic depending on where you live.

Overall, Horizons is Very good. Hope to see you there!
