Horrible sales experience. Go to Lowe's! In a previous life I was a Regional Sales Manager. I would have fired any of the over 300 sales reps who worked for me for using these scams. Luckily I knew what he was doing even before he did it. We started at $7000 and I got them down to $3000. Told all the same lies that was currently detailed below. Showed me about 24 samples. Went to Lowes by the way and they have about 24 million samples. The easiest way to put it is to understand that EMPIRE SALESPEOPLE ARE NOT EMPLOYED BY EMPIRE CARPET. THEY ARE 1099 EMPLOYEES. One last note...don't show up at my house in jeans and a leather jacket with a huge eagle on the back and think I am going to buy from you. Don't walk in and immediately say "Boy, You DO need new carpet!!!". The consolation prize was when he left he was so beaten down and furious that I never heard from them again. Beware!

Empire Today LLC offers very d...

Empire Today LLC offers very discounted prices for carpeting. If you are looking for an inexpensive carpeting to last for 1-3 years, then this is the place for you. But if you are looking for a quality carpet that will last for 8-10 years, Empire is NOT the best choice. Unfortunately, Empire Today LLC does not educate their customers at all regarding the "real" wearability of the carpet. Don't let the manufacturer's warranties fool you either. VERY rarely does either Empire or the manufacturer replace defective carpet. We bought carpet in April 2008 for almost our entire house from Empire. The salesman told us this was the best carpeting they carry, etc. Will wear well and will last. If there's a problem, you have a 10-15 year manuafacturer warranty. Etc....Three years later, the carpeting looks like it is 10 years old. The wear patterns are horrendous. Even after having a 3rd party reviewer come look at the carpet, neither Empire of the manufacturer will replace the carpeting, because "the wearing of the carpet is normal for the grade of carpeting that you bought." I thought this was "the best carpeting that they carry!" Anyway, do your homework. Know the kinds of carpeting, the standards that you need for a carpet that will last for 8-10 years, and then shop around. Empire is neither the least expensive or the most honest and forthcoming company for purchasing carpet. Buyer beware.

I planned on doing the floori...

I planned on doing the flooring myself but wanted to call a company just to see what it would cost. The cost is quoted as the Empire Today sale of: Buy 1 room and get the ENTIRE rest of your house at 75% off materials.

Original Cost: (buy 1 room get the rest of your house 75% off)

1,449 Sq Ft = $17,666.00.

Thats $12.20/Sq Ft.

First off, I told them four times what rooms I wanted to put laminate flooring in. At the end, he kept quoting my entire house. I never once received a quote for the exact areas I wanted laminate flooring installed on. I also, never got to pick the flooring. He came in with two boards with multiple samples and one was more expensive. He never even reviewed them with me and never asked me to pick what I wanted. So what kind of laminate flooring is my quote for?? Thats a good question. I still don't know. After the price, I didn't care to even ask.

Sales Tactics Used:

1. They have a product no one else can sell me. Theirs is the BEST! (this bugs me because he is a salesman. If he was fired today and was hired somewhere else tomorrow, he would be telling me how his new companies product is the BEST!) I prefer honesty over sales tactics.

2. The prices ARE going to go up by next month. (this one was interesting to me because he slipped out that he tells all his customers this but his prices haven't been raised in two and a half years. However, he was POSITIVE next month they were going up by 10%.)

3. The "special" they were running is supposed to be one of the biggest they have ever had. When he gave the price of $17,666 for the "special" price they were running he went on to say that he could do better by quoting me his price.... He went on to quote me his cost on materials, free installation, and a 5% discount. His price for this was $15,000.00. With actual cost, free installation, AND a 5% discount, to me that sounds like he would be losing money on the deal but look at that price. There is no way.

4. His last attempt. He called the office to get a "special" just for me and offered a lower price of $12,255.00. This is still for my entire house and NOT the areas I wanted done. He kept adding in the rest of the house. After sales tactic #3 how could they come in even lower? I don't get it.......hmmm.......maybe, just maybe hes trying to scam me.....???? Yes, I think so.

5. Started High for shock value and ended still to high but far less than original price. He wanted me to not do everything I wanted but just spend what money I had on a room or two, then save again and do another room.

My opinion:

Empire Today is a complete rip off. They used every tactic in the book and still came in with a price that was entirely too much. After reading online and calling other companies the most accurate pricing I could find was $2.00/Sq Ft for labor. This is a good fair price. High end places charged $3.00/Sq Ft for labor. Do your research and make sure you get multiple quotes. It's quite odd that their "special" price was more than any other price he gave me.
