Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children has an Obstetric Emergency Department that treats walk-ins, patients arriving by ambulance and those referred by an obstetrician for conditions including severe nausea, vaginal bleeding, lower back pain, early contractions and other pregnancy-related complications. Our team of labor and delivery nurses, nurse practitioners and board-certified obstetricians are available 24/7 to provide care at any stage of pregnancy in a dedicated 10-bed unit located next to the Labor & Delivery Unit on the 2nd floor. Women should talk with their OB-GYN early in their pregnancy about what to do in the event of an emergency.
