I have spent most my life caring for children. I was the babysitter growing up for all the neighborhood children and later became a foster mom. I fostered two children before I adopted my two children that are now 4 and 5 years old. I have been a general manager most of my life but decided to make a career change, a year ago. I decided to open up a home daycare business that I call Smarty Pants Home Daycare. My son had attended a large chain daycare center since he was 6 weeks old and I really liked the professional way it was ran. I decided to run my home daycare the same way except I would use the home environment to create security and familiarity. I believe that most children thrive in this environment! They like the rules, they also like that the rules are sometimes bent, love the "one on one" attention and just feel more secure. It is almost like they are going to a friend's house to play and learn until their parents come pick them up. It is hard to leave your children with anyone. I was that parent. I wanted to cry every time I dropped my son off. I want my parents to leave and feel good... not guilty. I want the kids to kiss their parent, wave goodbye and smile. It is just as easy as that! *** I am registered with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. You can look me up on their website. I have met their minimum standards, passed a background check and passed their inspection.
