I had Thunderbolt Rebuild a 60 HP Mercury outboard head and they gave it back to me without the screws and nuts that are used to adjust the valve clearance. When I went back they not only did not take care of me but they said that wasn't something they would take off or do, accusing me in my opinion of taking them off and losing them. The bolts are not available as a part so I had to buy expensive Rocker arms to get the adjustment screws. I will never go back and do not recommend them as a customer.

Thunderbolt has the personnel and expertise to fix your engine or transmission.

I called several places to have an engine replaced. The prices ranged from $1895.00 to $3600.00. Thunderbolt has an open door policy. They will be glad to show you around.

Thunderbolt was the absolute WORST experience I have ever had in terms of customer service and automotive care. I needed a rebuild and the whole process too almost 4 months and just over $9,000 dollars when I was all said and done. During that 4 months I tried to be patient but needed to know where I was at (do i need a rental car longer etc). They kept saying that it would be a few more days or whatever only to find out they have not even pulled my engine. The communication between their office and their shop is horrible. After finally getting the engine done I went to pick it up and brought it back that same night. Sender was bad and oil pressure was dropping. After some attitude they fixed it and I left again. The engine was still misfiring and based on their customer service I decided to have someone else look into it. I took it to louetta automotive and they were great. Thunderbolt had put in super cheap Autolite spark plugs and did not replace the coils (which I asked them to do) Louetta had me in and out in one day and also discovered that my Catalytic converters were clogged which was creating too much pressure on the engine. After 4 months and a FULL engine rebuild they should have found these very very simple problems. Now as I sit I am at another car shop with a dead car. The did NOT replace the timing chains. why would you do a full rebuild and have the engine and NOT replace them? I am also burning oil now. I asked them to replace them and I wanted to pay for it and they still didn't. Now its costing me more. So why don't I use their warranty? Well because their warranty only covers parts that they replaced. NOT the whole rebuild and and NOT the labor. So By the time I pay them for new parts and labor I would just as soon go somewhere else and at least get treated with respect.



Thunderbolt does the basic bait and lure to get you in there. Call them, promise you a 36hour rebuild after Diagnoses, have a truck to pick up your car for FREE, offer you a warranty and take your deposit. After they have your not refundable deposit they will proceed to take as long as they want cause they have you.

DO NOT USE THUNDERBOLT.

I took my car to Thunderbolt to get and estimate, while I was talking to the salesman. The salesman gave me a brief history of the company. They have been in business for over 80 years. The original owner started the business right after World War II. Now his son runs it. Great to see family ran businesses.

I took my 98 Chevy truck to Thunderbolt to have a motor installed. They kept me informed during every step of the way and I was very happy with the work.

I had a small problem and was discussing it with one of the employees, when the owner walked by and stopped to see what the problem was. He took the time to handle the problem himself.
