HORRIBLE!!!!! The ER experience was horrible as well as what came afterward. I took my son because he had croup and it was 1:30 am. I didn't have an option to take him to an urgent care for treatment. After a little while we were able to go to triage and see the nurse. I told the nurse about my son and she knew immediately that it was croup. The exam was quick and simple. She didn't weight him as they normally do in triage to make sure that they give the proper dose of medication. She then gave him and oral steroid and told us to go wait in the ER. We then spent 4+ hours in the packed ER main waiting room.

Finally, we were able to go back into an ER room. We waited for 1.5+ hours for the doctor to come tell us that they couldn't find anything wrong. Of course, the steroid worked and he was doing much better from being held all night. But, when I asked if there was a medication that I could get a prescription for incase he needs more steroid, I was told he won't have any problems. We were then given papers and sent home another 30+ minutes after seeing the doctor.

We had to go back two days later again and after 6+ hours in the ER, I had to leave because we had received NO CARE! I took him to the urgent care later in the day (which he had to receive an antibiotic due to an ear infection that the ER amazingly missed because they didn't take care of him properly).

Then I received a bill for a level 4 ER visit. For those who don't know, ER levels are from 1 to 5 and 5 is the most severe level. So, my son who received a steroid from the nurse and then was forced to wait 6+ hours in the ER gets a level 4 ER code? I have been talking to the billing department to get the proper codes for the services rendered.

When I told them that I was going to request the medical records, they promptly sent the bill to collections. Instead of working through this, they BULLY people to pay bills that appear upcoded (which is illegal).

If you read this, avoid the ER at ALL COSTS!!!

Absolutely a terrible place. Even as I write this, Im praying I get my son back and this horror story comes to an end. There is nothing wrong with my son and they are holding him hostage. My son was a slight jaundice risk so we came over for UV therapy. Also he is one week old and cant regulate his own temperature yet. Our Doctor(now fired) sent him over with a low temperature having weighed him naked and all in a cold office. Seeing the low temp(95) These idiots go into gung ho over drive. Without consulting or even considering us, they go to work like he's in imminent danger. He was cold but he just needed to warm up. Anyway They ordered a spinal tap over my loud objections. They cathed him. Put him on oxygen. IV(of course). Completely traumatizing our son and us for the slight possibility that he had some sort of infection. And even after the initial tests come back negative, they wouldn't release him . Saying they are going to pump him full of antibiotics for 2 days just to be on the safe side. Even if its still unlikely that he has an infection they are going to treat him anyway. Plus they were rude about it basically saying like it or lump it..According to a lot of studies, the risk of infection is greater now that hes there. Plus taking spinal fluid can paralyze you. They (like a lot of hospitals a lawyer did tell me) really don't care if the precautions are more dangerous then the risk itself. Overkill treatment is the basic nature for hospitals such as Texas Childrens due to liability. They profit from the procedures plus they profit from lessened liability. And they don't care about your opinion because you are powerless and they can have you escorted out. They can do what they want with your child. Im sure they do a lot of good for some but you better make sure you re kid is really sick before going to this place. My son is already showing signs of being traumatized. Don't let yours be too. johnnyteeter@gmail.com

we had the most horrible and traumatic experience. my daughter fell on her face and had her head split open. she was bleeding non-stop. the front desk worker named Amonica took my id and insurance and told me it would be 15 minutes. I waited for an hour and ask for help to stop my daughter's bleeding. The gave me tissue and told me to wait.People were in shock to see my daughter bleed so much. A man spoke up on by behalf and he was told everybody waits for their turn. I ask to see a doctor for my daughter would not stop bleeding and I was told that the only way I could see a doctor was if my daughter was not breathing anymore. I ask for my things and planned on going somewhere else but my daughter was losing so much blood. I didn't want to move her. I came back and told the lady in the front desk I was staying. She hid my sheet and folded next to her computer. my 3 year old daughter was bleeding all night. we waited from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Of the following day. my daughter was the last patient to be seeing. doctor Leaming saw her and was very sweet, but the nurse she had was rude and unprofessional. the doctor had to put 3 stitches on my daughter's forehead. They used local anesthesia and wrapped in a sheet. The nurse literally laid on top my 3 year old to prevent her from moving when my daughter was not even attempting to move.My daughter cried and said her legs were hurting.I ask the nurse to be gentle and she answered "what do want me to do, I' m literally going to end up all bruised up". please she was the one who left a bruise on my daughter's leg. also the nurse who saw us before we saw the doctor did not allow my mom to come in and closed the door on her face and then locked it . I was holding my daughter and she almost fell out of my arms because she was resisting to come in without her grandma. they finally, let her in. the nurse ask my year old to holds the bandage she put over her head. do not go here. it is the worst hospital for children. I am filing a complaint with corporate. there is no compassion or empathy for people.
