Do not go to this salon unless...

Do not go to this salon unless the older lady with short, curly hair can help you or you may be treated impatiently & with disrespect!! First, my pedicurist, Cindy, responded very impatiently with "Ok, ok, ok" when I asked what type of disinfectant they used to clean their foot spa. She sprayed down the chair & spa tub with some bottled liquid but never answered my question. I think she didn’t understood me. English is obviously not their first language. I believe this language barrier contributes greatly to customer conflict & misunderstanding.

I started to leave then, but the older lady was comforting & tried to smooth things over, as if it was just a misunderstanding. I waited until Cindy got back before getting into the spa chair, so I could judge for myself if she was going to give me attitude. But during her long trip to the back, after cleaning my chair must have given her time to readjust her attitude the older lady may have spoken to her.

Next, Kathy, who was assigned to do my pedicure, had a smart comment for almost every question I asked. But at first I thought it was her broken English. Kathy became very indignant when I pointed out that all 10 fingers had their own unique shape & length instead of being even.

I chose the square nail shape at first thinking Kathy must be skilled enough to make them look even since she offered both round & square as an option. But Kathy had no such skill. When I looked at my botched nails, I asked her to change the shape to round (which she - as the professional - she have recommended from the start rather than letting me choose a shape that would not look right once complete.) Kathy again lost patience.

Kathy's next round of indignation came when I noted that my clear polish coat had lots of bubbles & bumps & that the hand she began coloring had lumps as well. She blamed me. Saying I should have said something sooner, as she impatiently began wiping off the bad polish job. Then Kathy - who kept working as she was talking - told me I would have to do my nails at home. They could not do my nails for me (I'm assuming she meant in the future, but again this is what I understood from her broken English). When I asked her why, she said because I caused too many problems.

That was the last straw for me. I told Kathy to take the nail color off. I didn't want her to finish this nightmare manicure. She said I'll charge you $15 (full price) for the manicure. Note, I did not yell at her, but my tone clearly became indignant & said I will not pay $15 ... & before I could finish, Kathy stood up, gathered her tools & walked off to the back & never returned. I wanted to pay for the manicure less the color, but she never gave me a chance to finish. Mind you Kathy had painted 4 of my nails in shellac & the others with a clear coat. This color cannot be removed by consumers.

I asked the older lady if she was the manager I was not going to leave the shop with my nails half finished & have to pay another salon to remove the shellac. Instead Cindy, my pedicurist, was directed by the older lady to soak my nails & remove the color. I paid Cindy in full for her service & tipped her handsomely for taking over the shoddy work of her colleague.

Furthermore, the cleanliness of this place is questionable. The spa chairs are beginning to crack & I'm not sure what was in the disinfecting bottle. It smelled like colored water with only a hint of fragrance, so I'm not so sure how good of a disinfectant it can possibly be.

I rarely get my nails "professionally" done, but my experience particularly with the manicurist - took the word "professional" right out of the equation. Be wary of this place!
