This place is awesome. Super clean and well cared for animals. I've bought lots of animals without any issues.

I found S&S exotics on line in 2014. I was looking for gliders, I told Susan what I was looking for breeders. I have been breeding Gliders I have purchased from her for 3 years. If she told me something was 100% het to cramino it was. My experience with S&S exotics has been without any negatives. Their prices and quality have been MY "gold standard". As a matter of fact, I'm going to call her for some STO's right now. One more thing, the lady with the flapped neck chameleon. That was your fault for not doing your homework on the animal. That is your responsibility as a pet owner. They usually become egg bound because they have not been offered a suitable place to drop their eggs. Pet stores sell animals, NOT PETS! That is up to you. Thank you S&S exotics. Independent pet stores are the reason I love and breed animals to this day.

I go into this store whenever ...

I go into this store whenever I'm in town mainly to look. I had been on a waiting list to get rats from a REPUTABLE breeder in Austin and wasn't planning on coming home with anything. Unfortunately, I got suckered into holding their last rat - a double rex boy - and took him home to save him the fate of becoming a feeder. Since rats are social animals, I asked them when they'd be getting in more males. Two people assured me they'd be getting in dumbo rex males no later than that Wednesday. I searched for male rats needing homes, had no luck, so I called back on Wed to see what they got in. Nothing. They told me to call back Thursday, so I did. Same thing. I called back on Friday and talked to a VERY rude woman who told me they weren't getting any rats except feeders in at all anymore and that I'd been given incorrect information. Uh, excuse me, by this time I'd talked to at least 4 people who had told me they were expecting to get dumbo rex males that week. I ended up speaking to the manager who was of no additional help and couldn't verify when they'd be getting any in - if they did at all. So I was stuck with a single rat and ended up having to go to Petsmart to get him a buddy since the rescues only had females and the breeder hadn't even bred for her litter yet.

Very bad customer service, rude staff, and horrible conditions.

Three days ago I purchased a flap neck Chameleon from this company at Repticon. I have a female Veiled Chameleon and was looking for a male. I had been looking into getting a flap neck and to my surprise they had one. I talked to the gal who was running the booth and asked which one was a male since I didn't know the signs on this type of chameleon. She assured me the one I was getting was a male and I instantly purchased "him". I had picked this one because it had looked healthy and bigger than the others. I had purchased a set up prior and was excited to get him home. I posted pictures of my new Chameleon on a chameleon group I follow and was instantly told by many that the male chameleon was indeed a female and looked ready to lay eggs.Due to having a female already, I knew I needed to give her a lay bin. I put it in her enclosure and she never touched it. I came out this morning to find her hanging upside down by her feet and tail and changing green to an unusual yellow color. I took her out, held her for a bit and put her back with food. With in a short period time she died. They didn't offer proper care of this poor animal and she became egg bound and died. I am heart broken that any one would treat animals so poorly. And not only that, but sell them to others. I wish I had only read a review of this company prior to buying. Please read all reviews. They do not offer a guarantee on their animals because they are confident they are healthy. This is their response to"what type of guarantee do you offer?"I would never purchase from this place ever again, especially after reading the reviews of how poorly the animals are kept, how dirty it is and how many are sick or with parasites. Never buy from them!

My wife bought a Sulcatas(tortoise) from them and not only was given no information on care but was also sold equipment for a habitat that was not right. We only found out thru researching on our own after we got him home. They couldn't even tell her the sex of the tortoise which was very easy to tell if you simply turned it over. Very incompetent on what they sell and apparently only care about the dollar. I would NOTsuggest for anyone to buy anything from them. If I could give zero stars, I would.

I spent $600.00 in this store two weeks ago. Now we have a faulty cage, that will not hold our animals, and the owner refuses to call us back, answer the phone, or own up to what has happened. They recommended the cage we bought, and now refuse to let us return it. Her only recommendation is that I buy another cage ! So after spending $600.00 ...... SHE WANTS ME TO SPEND ANOTHER $275.00....... and that's supposed to make this all better. SPREAD THE WORD..... SHE DOES NOT HONOR HER PRODUCTS... SHE DOES NOT ACCEPT RETURNS ON FAULTY PRODUCTS .... AND SHE DOES NOT RETURN CUSTOMERS PHONE CALLS!

I bought a Crested gecko less than a month ago. When I got him home I noticed he had a couple of scabs and some swollen toes but I treated them with neosporin. The scabs healed (although they left transparent markings in his skin) but the toes would not go down. He wouldn't eat for two weeks but, after finding out what flavor Pangea he ate and giving him some Panacur for an internal parasite, I got him eating. That lasted for three days before he stopped eating again. The swelling in his toes spread to his foot which I continued treating with neosporin and regular cleanings. Within a week he had developed more scabs across his entire body and could barely move. I had him seen by a reptile vet who confirmed that he had a bacterial infection that had spread internally, and that was why the neosporin was not doing anything for his external symptoms. I had spent weeks trying to give S&S the benefit of the doubt and, instead, blaming myself, convinced I was doing something wrong. It turned out I had done everything I possibly could but he had had this infection for a long time and that, without being informed of this earlier one, there wasn't much I could have done. As a result, he had to be put down. It has been a heartbreaking experience and all I can do is warn people to do their research on sellers first, because since this experience I have heard nothing but horror stories from people who went through the same thing. .

I bought a hedgehog from this place, and she lived quite a long time. Now, I did not buy all of the "required necessities" they told me about, but it was still fine. I bought cat food instead of that big bag of hedgehog cuisine. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Horrible place. Go to Pets a Plenty.

It all started back about two years ago, I bought a hedgehog. I picked her up and looked at her and she seemed fine. I was not given a care sheet and frankly, the lady didn't really seem to know all that much about hedgehogs. Anyways, I took her home and immediately noticed something was really wrong. She was throwing up and having terrible diarrhea. I called s&s and asked them what could be wrong with her and what I can do about it. They proceeded to not answer any questions and told me no exchanges or refunds. I took her to the vet immediately the next day and the vet told me she was in really bad shape and would have died if I hadn't taken her. Again, at this point I only had her for about a day and a half. They administered medicine to give her twice a day and it helped a lot. Less than a week later I picked her up and her left eye was bulging out of her head. It was about twice the size of the other eye. Alarmed, I took her to the vet once more. S&S had been keeping the hedgehogs in the wrong kind of bedding, a mix between care fresh and wood shavings and a piece of the wood was lodged in her eye. The eye was badly injured and infected they had to take it out and sew it shut! So about 600 dollars later in vet bills I was obviously furious. I went their again to look around twice since then and each time I see sick animals. The most recent time I was in their was mid June and I saw their sugar gliders were out in the light and moving shakily and slow. They were thin and covered in diarrhea. We made a complaint about them and were shrugged off. Recently I saw a post on Facebook on a popular public group of someone asking about s&s so I felt the need to voice my opinion. Videos of the sick animals were posted and someone tagged the owner in the conversation. She verbally attacked me and called me a liar. She said the gliders in the videos weren't for sail and that they were babies. We said just because they weren't for sail doesn't mean they shouldn't get the correct care needed. She was very rude, sarcastic, unprofessional and condescending to everyone who started posting concerns about her store. It was absolutely ridiculous. She said the sick animals were isolated incidents. But the facts are, they have horrible reviews EVERYWHERE. They are ranked 2.5 stars out of 5. She says no pet store is perfect. I say another entrepreneur store, Pets A Plenty, very similar, has little to no bad reviews anywhere and have 4.9 out of five stars. The facts are there.

unwelcoming!

We walked in and asked for help and we were ignored until about 15 min later and it was NOT busy. When a Caucasian (older woman) "helped us" she responded to all of my animal related questions with eye rolling, deep breaths, and she even walked away from me several times to calm her unreasonable nerves and come speak to me again. All I was asking was what kind of foods my animal would need and how I should set up its shelter. When I asked to hold my new pet to see its interaction with me, she responded with more eye rolling and a deep breath as if she just wanted me gone already. (Despite her bad attitude), I thanked her over and over for her help and letting me hold my new pet, and she never said "your welcome". she ignored me and walked away. At one point she even questioned my income. She asked if I was sure I had enough money to own a pet. Being that I make more money than her whole company, I just ignored her personal questions and comments. She left me never wanting to return there again! So rude and unwelcoming.
