This plutocratic corporations should be named The Godfather of the electricity providers, because they do business like the mafia. It's like if a man robbed money from the criminal organizations (because that's what they are),and because they can't find him, they made his estranged wife and her children, pay for it. That's exactly what this criminals are doing. They put a switch hold on the account, because estranged husband owns them money, not allowing any other provider to give them electricity.

Stay away from Reliant. It is...

Stay away from Reliant.

It is horrible horrible service.

If I would give negative stars, I would do it.

When I cancel their service, they charged about $800 at last.

I did not read the policy which is in tiny word.

My little mistake paid $800.

Reliant Energy, you break my h...

Reliant Energy, you break my heart! We have been with you through thick and thin for almost 10 years now. What have you done with your customer service? Do you really think charging people ridiculously huge deposits is going to improve your bottom line? I will be moving all accounts to another electric provider without delay.

AWFUL AWFUL!! customer service...

AWFUL AWFUL!! customer service here is almost

non-existent/rude!!.. I spoke to a man named

"TONY" employee id number 924093 he is

apparently a "supervisor", just like all the

other employees I spoke to he was just as rude

with absolutely no way of resolving my issue.

when I moved out of my apartment because my

lease ended I called reliant to cancel my

service. tony and everyone else told me 6 days

to cancel!! I told them that I will have

already moved out and that my apartment is

planning to come in and do

inspection/cleaning/painting in this HOT JUNE

HEAT they will be blasting the A/C and

everything else (which I will be paying for!)

My bill for a tiny 600 sq ft apartment will

come out to be over 300$!!!

I kept trying to explain my situation but every

time I got the same snide remark telling me

it'll take 6 days before they can even get

anyone out!!

stay away from reliant unless you want

extremely poor customer service AND HIGH BILLS!

Reviewing an incompetent company

On 11/17/09 I called Reliant to set up service on our New Construction home. Two (2) hours and 10-12 people later, I was told all was done. Supposedly the delay was because of their computer problems. They first told us we'd have to make a $350 deposit (never been a Reliant customer & NEW CONSTRUCTION). Finally got someone to do a manual credit check. Said we didn't have to pay a deposit, all was fine. Then I got a bill from Reliant for $350. I called & was told to disregard the bill. Our electric service, WITH an account number was fine. We got a "Welcome to Reliant" letter from Mr. Bill Clayton, VP of Customer Care. Wish we could call him, but he had no contact info and I'm not sure he really exists, as there seems to be no real "customer care".

On 12/17/09 (Thurs.) 5:00 p.m., a Centerpoint Energy truck parked out front & turned off our lights. When we asked why, he said it was a "move out". We called the development supervisor & we all called Reliant. Spoke with 2 more people & 2 supervisors. Finally one supervisor got on the phone with the driver & assured him that they would send the order canceling the cut-off order RIGHT NOW. The driver told them that if they didn't, someone else would be out in the morning & cut off service at the underground. We were told not to worry..it was being taken care of as we spoke. By then it was 6:30 p.m.

This morning, 12/18/09 (Fri.) at 8:30 a.m., a Centerpoint energy truck pulled up in front of our house & started to shut off our electricity. My husband called Reliant & again got ANOTHER supervisor who made a conference call to Centerpoint to enter the order into their computer system to cancel the cut-off order. Told us it would take 1 to 1 1/2 hours to reach the driver's computer.

We were scheduled to go out of town for the day. My husband has gone alone & I am waiting here to stop whoever comes next to turn off our electricity.

THE REASON FOR THE TURN OFF ORDER WAS: NO ONE HAD EVER TURNED IN AN ORDER FOR OUR ELECTRICAL SERVICE!!! With all the time spent and people talked to, NO ONE ever turned in our service request. But we DID have an account with an account number.

There are so many people out of work now, surely at least half of them are competent enough to do a satisfactory job with Reliant Energy. I cannot conceive employing the number of people that work at Reliant Energy that are unable to function adequately in a service oriented company.

I will be looking for someone in the company intelligent enough to address my complaint.

Why Abuse Me?

I have just found out that by staying with Reliant month to month but unsigned that I have been gouged! A customer rep now tells me that by remaining unsigned they were allowed to charge me $0.165/kwh (in a $0.113 market by their own monthly price Flex Plan) even though I am one of their lowest cost type customers since they have no forward price risk in serving me. He kindly offered to move me to a plan that would get me true market cost based service but it is too late...I will be going to the competitiion over the abuse of their abuse discretionary pricing.

Arrogance

Long wait times on phone; arrogance on phone; people passing the buck to someone else, higher electric bills even when not using AC at Christmas time; charging to come out and read meter when requested(Only requested twice); excuses for high bills when I have not had air conditioner on again at Christmas billing time, general overall satisfaction lost in the crown feeling everytime I have to deal with this company. I am researching and changing companies to go to a smaller company with lower rates, honesty, and better service that takes less of my time and more of theirs. I am the customer.

Use Reliant & Get Screwed Over!

I have been a customer of Reliant since March 2008. In December 2008, I noticed that my bill was a little higher than it should be, given the fact that I was out of town for 2 weeks of the billing cycle. Long story short, I found out that my meter was being read incorrectly and the readers were covering their mistake by increasing my usage. For example, if one month they do a reading and its 84518 and the next month, they realized they made a mistake and the reading is actually 84483, they will say it is higher than 84518 to cover their mistake. I wonder how long this has been going on? As a warning to all who use or plan to use Reliant Energy as a service provider, be aware and check your readings monthly on your own. Every month now, I call and compare my reading results to the results reported to Reliant. If you do not know how to read your meter, it's real easy. There are 5 circles that look like clocks. From left to right, write down where the needle is for each circle. For example, if the needle is between 8 and 9, write down 8 and so on. Good luck!

reliant sucks stay far away

Yes! Reliant sucks...I paid a $275 deposit and signed a 1 year contract @ 11 cents per kw....After a year of payments on time always. The last month of the contract they moved my rate to 18 cents per kw and my bill was doubled, so when they gave the deposit back it would have no financial affect on them!!!

I called the Texas Energy commission and they said the energy companies can do basically what ever they want???

Shady company stay away...
