Yia Yia Mary's is named for the Pappas family's grandmother ("Yia Yia" is Greek for "Grandmother") and is a story of the Pappas family history, reflected through the recipes passed down by Yia Yia Mary and the many members of the Pappas family. Our team of chefs scoured the family recipe books to create the perfect menu of authentic Greek cuisine. Yia Yia Mary's Greek Kitchen offers unique, flavorful cuisine from the Mediterranean. An extensive list of appetizers keeps true to the custom of eating Greek: lots of small dishes or `Mezes' to be shared amongst the table. Try the Keftedes (Greek meatballs), Fried Calamari, Hummus served with warm pita bread or sample our many traditional Greek dips with the Appetizer Sampler. Our Greek Salad is one of the best in the city and can be topped with your choice of Souvlaki. Traditional Specialties include Moussaka and Pastitsio, traditional Greek casseroles, and Grilled Lamb Oreganato. Pulling from the fisherman roots of the Pappas family, Yia Yia Mary's also offers a wide variety of fresh seafood dishes including mahi mahi, salmon, and sea bass. Make sure and try the Shrimp Mykonos, char-grilled jumbo shrimp served with Greek tomato sauce & orzo pasta. Wanting something simple? Try a traditional Gyro or one of the grilled meat Souvlakis (kabobs) served with herb rice or lemon-roasted potatoes. Of course, no meal is complete without sampling one of our traditional Greek desserts. Yia Yia Mary's Baklava is a family legend - layer upon layer of sweet phyllo dough and the perfect mixture of nuts with a delectable honey syrup topping. There's also a Gelato Bar where you can choose your favorite flavor and sample the homemade specialties made in house. Yia Yia Mary's has a full bar serving wine, beer and specialty cocktails like the Ionian Breeze, a Finlandia Grapefruit Vodka with cranberry, grapefruit & lime juice shaken and served on the rocks.
