Northwest Assistance Ministries, located in Houston, is a multiprogram, community-based social service agency. The agency was founded in 1985 and began its operations with a Food Pantry, Assistance program and Resale Shop programs. It offers its services to more than 900 families. It offers various other programs that include an assistance program, meals-on-wheels, senior wheels, Interfaith Hospitality Network and shelter and energy assistance programs. It also operates a variety of facilities, such as children's clinic, Rotary Learning and Workforce Development, and family violence and counseling centers. Its shelter and energy assistance program helps families in need with shelter and energy-related issues. The program receives funding from several grant programs. Northwest Assistance Ministries operate the family violence and counseling center program that provides a crisis help line, access to emergency shelter, peer and legal advocacy, support groups and counseling for individual tolerating domestic violence and abuse.
