definately a must to visit

Station recently remodeled. Many historical pictures and posters inside. Amtrak's famous Sunset Limited Passenger Train arrives & departs from this station. You can go all the way to Los Angeles or New Orleans (and all intermediate stops such as San Antonio,Lake Charles,Lafayette,El Paso,Palm Springs,Maricopa(near Phoenix)and many more places. Amtrak is continously adding more sleeping cars on the train to keep up with public demand for train travel as more people hate to fly now days. Helps to book sleepers a week or 2 in advance. If booked up, tell them you want a sleeper PART of the way, this "gets you in the door" as the on board crew usually keeps you in the same room your entire destination. Excellent dining car service and you can't beat the food. Recommended AAA+++. I'll never fly again if I can help it. You travel on this train once & you'll never want to fly again either. Friendly ticket agents work at the station to give information on coach tickets or sleeping car tickets. There's also a lounge car on the train for beer & wine drinkers and hamburgers and sandwiches, cereal, pizza, cokes and just about a little of everything. You'll never go hungry traveling Amtrak.

worth the visit

This station has a large collection of pictures and other memoribilla inside it. Houston's beautiful Grand Central Station was demolised in 1959 or 1960, and this Amtrak station has been here even since. It's not really that attractive if you see it from the outside, but go inside and you see more history and pictures and posters on railroad history that I've even seen in one place. Amtrak's famous Sunset Limited passenger train passes through Houston, Texas on it's way to either New Orleans or Los Angeles. You can go to San Antonio, El Paso and many other places along the way.If traveling on the famous Sunset Limited, the train stops in Houston,Texas for 30 minutes or so to allow passengers to go in and see and these famous (old and a few newer) pictures of railroad history as this area of the Gulf Coast is Union Pacific's oldest trackage in it's entire Union Pacific system and has a long history behind it (predating the Civil War) and was once the famous Southern Pacific Railroad.
