Plan for parking to take no less than 45 minutes but as long as 2 hours.
Very nice facility, poorly run. Plan to wait in waiting rooms for a while too, I got got helped 2.5 hours after my appointment today. Pretty much need to take 6 hours of work.

Very helpful, very caring. Helpful knowledgeable staff. Better than I usually receive in private care.

If I could rate this a zero I ...

If I could rate this a zero I would. I went to the emergency room because of my ear bleeding on the inside and I wanted to make sure that I had nothing wrong with my ear. I go inside and pull out my military dependent ID and talk to a nurse to get myself checked in. The nurse was nice enough to me and asked me the normal questions and then saw that I wasn't in the system... so they told me I had to go to the receptionist to answer a few questions. First off she was on the phone for God knows how long, and then she has the nerve to tell me that she'll be with me in 15 minutes.... REALLY?! So, I go and sit at my seat and I watch her desk for 20-25 minutes and all she's doing is typing fairly slowly on something. Now as a child to a nurse, I understand they have work, but this was ridiculous. The nurse saw I was getting frustrated and took my vitals so I wouldn't walk out and leave. After the 20-25 minutes (which was SUPPOSED to be 15), the receptionist told me to come and pull up a chair and she asked me questions. She asked me if I had one piece of paperwork and I answered with a polite no, she asked me about another piece of paperwork and I said no again, and then she literally said "Do you have anything?!" very rude like. I was taken aback that she even did that and I snapped back and said, "No, but I have my military ID card." She took it and said she would be right back with a s*** load of paperwork and walked slowly to her destination. I waited 5-10 minutes on her and she came back asking me what was wrong and I told her about my ear. She told me I couldn't go there and that I had to go to another emergency room. So I glared at her and told her, "Alright, give my card back and I'll go there!" and I took it from her and stormed out. If you're a military dependent, DO NOT go to this hospital. I could point out 4 people in that hospital that weren't even veterans...

I have never in all my 53 years of going to any va hospital been treated with more dignity and respect than I have at M.E.Debakey here in Houston Tx . I guess its has to do with reciprication.you get what you give, and if you come in treating people as if they owe you ,you will not be received well, but if you believe in do unto others,as I do you will be grateful there's someone there to help you through any process .we all fell from the same tree.show respect n you will get the same. As for the drs. ,none compare! I live a happy life, thanks to the va
