DR PAULOS …NO FOLLOW UP AFTER CAUSING A PSEUDOMONAS INFECTION!





Dr. Paulos was attempting to remove neuroma pain after an ACL surgery. His plan was to bury the nerve causing my pain in a section of bone. While I thought he was doing the surgery..much of it was done by his first day assistant.The nerve that was buried was not the one causing my pain..so the surgery was a not a help...but more importantly I was told to call the next day if my knee became very warm, fever or turned a dark color. Unfortunately I had all of those symptoms the next day and called the office. I was referred to the nurse. She told me to call back in a hour which I did as the pain was increasing tremendously...even though I had taken my meds. I had other knee surgeries but nothing was ever like this. I tired repeatedly to contact and was told the office was closed! It was a weekend and I waited till monday..then decided to get home and have my doctors assess the situation. The head of infectious disease from my county and hospital informed me I had a super infection ..namely pseudomonas.....and tried to contact Dr. Paulos...When they finally did ..he denied any knowledge of my attempts to contact him and stated there was no way I could have acquired the infection from his surgery. After an I.V. was placed into my heart via my left arm and 5 weeks of many antibiotics every 8 hours I started to win the battle against the infection and not have my leg amputated. I tried to call Dr. Paulos..but he would not take my calls. My doctors tried also but he would never admit any fault..even though the initial bandage was extremely wet directly over the incision. My concern was this man DOES NOT CARE ABOUT PEOPLE...especially if you are not a celebrity. He caters to the famous to increase his reputation..and also donations; but John Doe is treated like a piece of meat... I would stay clear of him if you value your joints and go with a well know local orthopedic surgeon who has a good mouth to mouth reputation and post op availability. This guy was asked to leave from his last post in Salt Lake…… due to the highest rate of infections after surgery. He is a sloppy, uncaring, curt man and worse as a doctor.
