Hello Ms. Debra L, this Kaneyama Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar. As the previous owner, Brad Sheffield explanation about the expiration date, the gift certification sold out BEFORE 2017 was ONE YEAR. The Kaneyama manager already explained with this 100$ gift certification holder, Ms. Nancy Morrison about this policy of gift certification expiration date. And Ms. Morrison had the previous owner's phone number, and we assumed that she already talked with the previous owner about this $100 gift certification. The date of gift certification was 12/20/2016 that is over one year. Please explain what happened about a 100$ gift certification and an unpaid 45$ Lunch with the police officers who concerned about it. Is that make sense? Great Food
This restaurant has the freshest fish! I absolutely LOVE this restaurant. The staff is awesome and the service is prompt.

Good for what it is. Decent price and size meals. The sushi is pretty good (again, especially considering the price).

I enjoy the atmosphere and wait staff. Although, another mentioned they aren't the fastest, that's true but they are very friendly and I always go there with the intention of taking my time anyway.

BEST SUSHI IN TOWN!

My whole family loves this place. Yes, the service may be a little slow, but it's worth the wait. Our recommendations are: Chawa Mushi, Asari Miso soup, Octopus Sunomono for appetizers. Nemo Roll, Snowman Roll, Hanabi Roll And maybe some pcs of the fresh sashimi!! Yummy!!! I can't wait to eat there!!!

I go to Kaneyama at least once a week and finally found the time to write a review. My favorite thing on the menu is Sansai Tofu, Tuna Tartar, and the Ramen. staff are so nice. Highly Recommed!!

When I think about sushi, I will think Kaneyama. Fresh fish and good service, My favorite sushi place in houston. have never been disappointed in coming there.

The sushi is very tasty and fresh if you do not mind paying the medium prices.

I discovered Kaneyama two years ago as a newcomer to Houston and love the food and service so much, I visit 2 to 3 times a week. I usually dine alone and while this can be an uncomfortable experience at some restaurants, the staff at Kaneyama helps me feel right at home. But the freshness and creativity of the menu is what usually distinguishes a sushi restaurant...and this is where Kaneyama really shines. I'm absolutely hooked on their Hanabi Roll, featuring two shrimp tempura on the inside, with pepper tuna and avocado on the outside, topped with crabmeat and a light mayo-based sauce. It's absolutely addictive! Also notable is Kaneyama's Nabayaki Udon soup, which is easily enough for two people. Kaneyama also has happy hour specials daily from 5 to 7 p.m., and even when it's not offered as a special, you'll want to try the Fuji Apple cocktail. It's the best seven bucks I've spent on a drink in a long time. Finally, if you go, you'll want to return, so be sure to ask about their frequent diners' card, valid for 10% off your party's entire food order after five visits. (They don't promote this aggressively, so do inquire.) Yes, I've tried sushi just about everywhere else in Houston. But Kaneyama has me -- hook, line and sinker. Thank heavens I live just a block away!
