First Baptist Academy, located in Houston, is a ministry of First Baptist Church. Established more than 35 years ago, it provides a rigorous academic program for students in prekindergarten through grade eight. The acacdemic programs provide a classroom environment that allows a child to reach his potential in the areas of cognitive, social-emotional, spiritual and physical development. The prekindergarten curriculum provides instruction in reading readiness, math, constructive play, communication skills, motor skill development and positive social interaction. The kindergarten program consists of language and reading development activities, number recognition, an introduction to basic math concepts, Bible, social studies, science, physical education and weekly library and computer lab classes. Curriculum in first through eighth grades includes language arts, science, math and social studies. First Baptist Academy offers diverse opportunities for students to participate in choir, band, art, theatre arts and yearbook, and athletic programs that includes sports, such as football, volleyball, basketball and cheerleading.
