Well I chose this place because i needed my car fixed as soon as possible. It opens at 7am so I went here.
First the good.
They checked my car just a few minutes after I got there (about 30 minutes)
They had a waiting area
They checked my car and then gave me an estimate of what it will cost to fix before fixing it. I paid what they told me upfront
My car seems to be running well after the service. I have the front brake pads and brake rotors replaced
Done in a timely manner. Got there about 7:30. And at about 8:50 they started doing service on it. Was done by 10:25.

Bad.
Waiting area it's boring just a television with nothing interesting on any channel.(no big deal)
The auto parts seem overpriced. I checked the report they game me with the part reference number and they charged be almost twice for example the napa nb rotors 48880403 where 87.50 each then when I looked them up they cost about 50. 40 exact same brand and code(got 2 of those). Then the break pads AD7387A. Cost me 99.60 when I looked them up it was 53.80. So that's definitely not the best.

Overall it was an ok experience ended up paying 510.13 for frond break and rotor replacement. Not so happy about how much they charged for the outo parts but I was in a hurry to fix my car so I could get to work and didn't have many options. Not sure if I will be visiting this shop again. Or maybe next time ill get the parts myself Because if I can get the parts at such significantly lower prices fairly easily. I'm sure they can get them even cheaper.

There is no automotive shop that I would trust more than Family Auto. I was on the computer and for some strange reason stumble on this site and Family Auto. I read the negative review and could not help wonder what did this customer do. I have and family have used this shop for over 15 years and I have never encounter any situation like this. Now knowing Mr. Winters I do not think he is the type of person that would allow anyone to abuse him not even a customer. He has never struck me as the type of person that loved the almighty dollar that much. I am replying because I think that review was not fair to the shop or the man that I have know and my family have known for years

Avoid this place. It looks nice...the people seem friendly...but it’s all to LURE you in... Kind of like going to a car dealership. Everyone there is a vulture waiting to get you. They will quote you a price for the Diagnostic scan ($66 to be exact) but later say they had to do a deeper scan that cost $99 (Ken used the words..."like a cat scan"). The thing is no one called me to ask me if it was o.k. to go to a deeper scan…instead they just did it…and I was expected to pay. My thought was what if I couldn’t have afforded that extra $33…the economy isn’t exactly doing great. That is salesman talk. Then once I started to ask for a breakdown (over the phone) he changed the prices 3 different times (and they talk fast to throw you off...again like salesmen). And not to mention...his tone changed like he was aggravated I asked. I agreed to get the work done because I was already there broke down and needed to leave out of town the next night (it was closing hours when I dropped it off)...so time was of the essence. The next morning I spoke with Jim...a real jerk...who also had his salesman hat on and again whose tone was off putting the more questions I asked (I guess they are used to people just accepting what they say without asking). He started talking like “the 1.8 thickness of a hose which causes the density of the air which causes combustion etc." to throw me off (which I listen very closely). I could talk about open heart surgery real fast and this organ connected to this artery causing this build up blah blah...doesn't mean the patient would know what I was talking about. Again...after asking questions I could see I was being ripped off. Felt like that from the moment I walked in. Like I said, time was of the essence so I stayed and toughed it out. Luckily for me...I have problems...but money isn't one of them. So to those that want to keep your money and cannot afford to be ripped off (it happens to all of us) go SOMEWHERE ELSE. Save your money! Now I know the type of business they are. Again...go somewhere else!

I AM SORRY YOU FELT YOU WERE BEING RIPPED OF,IN 20 PLUS YEARS OF BUSINESS I HAVE NEVER TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF A CLIENT OR A BUSINESS, IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM, THERE IS ALWAYS A SOLUTION, WHEN DOING DIAGNOSTICS YOU HAVE TO START SOMEWHERE, MY LABOR RATE HAS NEVER BEEN $66.00, WE WERE AT $67.50 IN 2011, THEN INCREASE TO $75.00 AN HOUR FIRST OF 2012, AND NOT KNOWING YOUR VEHICLE'S HISTORY NOR OPERATION WHEN IT FAILED, AN ESTIMATE WAS GIVEN, NOT AN EXACT FIGURE FOR DIAGNOSTICS, ADDITIONAL TIME WAS NEEDED TO COMPLETE YOUR DIAGNOSIS- YOU COULD OF DECLINED AND PAID THE INTITAL AGREED DIAGNOSTIC FEE AND TOOK YOUR VEHICLE TO ANOTHER SHOP.IN 20 YEARS NO WORK OR DIAGNOSTICS WAS DONE WITHOUT PRIOR PERMISSION. MYSELF AND FRONT COUNTER GO IN DEPTH TO EXPLAIN TO YOU ABOUT WHAT WE ARE GOING TO BE DOING AND WHY WE ARE DOING SO YOU WOULD HAVE A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF YOUR VEHICLE FAILURE. I HAVE BEEN A AAA REPAIR FACILITY SINCE 2001, AND A NAPA CAR CARE CENTER SINCE 2005, WE ARE ALSO A CERTIFIED EMMISION REPAIR SHOP FOR THE STATE OF TEXAS, MY TECHNICIANS ARE ALL ASE CERTIFIED WITH L1 ADVANCE CERTIFATIONS INCLUDING MYSELF, SO IF YOU HAD A PROBLEM I WOULD OF BEEN MORE THAN WILLING TO CORRECT THE MISUNDERSTANDINGS.
