I'm a recent graduate of Avalon Medical Career Academy and I will say my experience here was pretty pleasant. I was apart of the Phlebotomy course and I loved it. Phlebotomy was definitely the best career choice for me! :)
We have to remember that the objective is to earn certification so that we may work.
My experience was straightforward. The class was simple, they give you the coursework, there's a lecture (you study at home) and we draw blood as practice.
We repeat. The instructor answers any questions you may have and as long as you pay your payment plan on time, there are no issues!

I enrolled in 12 week cma class in march 2018. It is now July 2018 and i still have not taken my state test. The instructor really tries hard to teach but he always goes back to the beginning of the kecture for people who shows up late or people who missed class. This leaves the people who did show up on time and to class daily behind. We fiddle our thumbs while they play catch up mean while time is ticking and before u know it class is over and i have learned nothing for that day. By the end of the the 12 weeks we were so far behind, the instructor basically told us what to read and study and gave us tests with answers and tild us to study until the state test. About that... The last day of class was June 14th a month later and still no sign of the state. How about we all filled out the FIRST STATE application in April and it was rejected because Dr. Raymond missed the deadline to turn them in. We filled out the SECOND STATE application in May and still nothing. Dont waste ur time. Its very unprofessional and thats only some of the things i experienced believe me there is more.

This school is a joke! I graduated June 29th, received my certification in Phlebotomy July 8th. It is now about to be October and I still don't have a job! They don't help you! All they care about is money. Dr Raymond is rude and he doesn't know anything! Can't understand what he saying half the time. The program is 900 plus 105 for the cert test. & he says after grad we can always go back and practice blood draw But when you go there's no one to practice with. All the teachers are rude and ghetto. They don't care about you! You don't learn everything you're suppose to know. He LITERALLY gives you the answers to the Cert test! In a room where there's no cameras. Just so he has high pass rating and can keep his school. I really don't feel like I earned my certification. I know how to draw blood but no one will hire me because I have no experience. & the cert is NOT nationally certified. Most places will Not accept MEDCA as a valid certification . BEWARE!!! Save your money and time!!!

so far so good

I havnt started avalon yet,but i will in 5 days.I have been up there many times freaking out over if i want to be a med aid or phlebotomist.i have changed my major 3 times already, and Ramon the head guy there has been very patient and very helpful to my concerns. And he really helped me on my decision. And i have heared lots of good things about them.Everyone i work with at the nursing home im at as a cna right now says its a good place, and others have got there med aid from there. And they say they have Job assistance after the program is over. And they also allow payment plans.Ramon is very compationent and will suit your needs anyway he can.But i will rate this again after i finish school.right now i only gave it 3 stars because i havnt yet started the classes.
