My home warranty company sent them to check out my AC. The tech tells me

that I need a new compressor. Well, that was true. But after he leaves, I

get this call from his office about the 'non-covered' charges. A whopping

$830!!! And what were these charges for?

1. Sight Glass - $175 (My current unit doesn't have one so why do I need

one now?)

2. Disposal of old unit - $150.00

3. Disposal of Freon - $150.00

4. Acid Clean - 175.00

5. Copper Modification - $180.00

Now shouldn't disposal of unit be included with same charge as disposal of

freon? I argued that they could take the freon out and I would dispose of

unit myself. They refused to back off charge and home warranty folks

wouldn't intervene. As for copper modification - what? How do you know

you'll have to bend the copper lines until the unit is put in?

I discussed these issues with the TX Dept of Licensing and Regulations,

and was told that the need for 'sight glass' was FRAUD and that the

'copper modification' was Bulls***. He also said after freon removal the

unit was my property and that I could dispose of it properly.

Well, the home warranty folks offered me a cash out for parts and labor -

a whopping $306 for a compressor and labor that would cost me $2500 at

least. So that left me between a rock (around the air) and a hard place

(home warranty). With grave reservation, I paid the $830.00.

Two days later I noticed that my unit was blowing warm air and the temp

was rising in the house. I called my home warranty service and they sent

out a different company. The tech spotted the problem right away. Around

the Clock did't replace the bad capacitor!! Overcharging and under-

serving!!

I will definitely file a complaint with TDLR as was suggested by the

agency.

Beware of AROUND THE CLOCK AIR.

Take a look at what's said on the BBB site:
