In the middle of a mask-making frenzy on a Saturday, my 30+-year-old Kenmore sewing machine bit the dust. Wouldn't stitch. I called about four shops and left messages. A & B Vacuum called me even though it was closed, and I brought the machine in the following Monday.

The shopkeeper was polite (even though we were both slightly shouting through the fabric in both our masks) and professional. He said he would call me after they had looked over the machine.

He called the following day and told me I needed the unit retimed and retuned (which I assumed after 30 years of mostly disuse). It would cost $79.95.
When the machine was ready (a little less than a week later), I picked it up.

The shopkeeper gave me the ticket and showed me a piece of fabric, under the pressure foot, with perfect stitching. The bill was $79.95 plus tax, as promised.

I was pleased from beginning to end with the transaction, the interactions and the quality of work. The place was filled to the brim with sewing machines and vacuums, so they must be doing something right!

This is the worst vacuum repair shop in Houston. Period. A&B Vacuum and Sewing Machines was recommended to me by Electrolux for warranty repair. When I arrived at the store location to drop off my vacuum cleaner, I found the older east-indian looking gentleman to be both condescending and argumentative. Hardly what you'd expect from a customer service based business.

My repair took longer than I was told, and every one of the three times I called to check in, the older gentleman yelled on the phone like an irate lunatic cut short of his daily medication. For those of us who are more technically inclined, the repair was mediocre at best. Hardly what you'd expect from a place that claims to have been around for as long. I strongly recommend taking your broken sewing machines and vacuums cleaners elsewhere for repair.

At A& B Vacuum and Sewing, you will not be respected as a customer, your repair will take too long, and the workmanship will be shoddy at best.

My mom and I went to drop her vacuum off to figure out what was wrong with it. She has used this place before and they always charge her for services but don't say what they did to it. I tried to fix it the night before by changing the bag and cleaning out the hose but it still didn't work. When we walked it we didn't see anybody and were standing in the store for about 10 minutes until she yelled to see if anyone was there. The man who came out was very rude from the start. I asked if he could tell me when he called what was wrong and after arguing with me he said he would. We came back a few minutes later because I wanted to look at something on the vacuum to see if I could tell what was wrong. He was already in the front with a customer and I asked if I could look at the vacuum very quickly. He got angry and asked for our ticket back and then yelled at us about wasting his time and that we should decide if we want to get it fix or not. He was very rude yelling at us! We walked out very quickly and he lost 2 customers today. I would recommend that NOBODY go here. He is very rude and will yell at you if you ask questions!
