Throughly Dissatisfied with what they did in my house today. What paint they actually put on my walls looks nice. But I don't appreciate all the paint they left on my hardwood floors. Took me hours to clean up the paint after they left. Makes me mad they had no consideration for my hardwood. In addition I found blood all over my bathroom sink and floor. So had to spend more time cleaning that up. Would not recommend them for future clients...especially if you like your hardwood floors.

I've hired the Robinson Crew twice--once for my house, and once for my office. Richard is a total pro. Both times he was affordable, quick, and easy to work with. And he can handle tough jobs, like painting the 16-foot high wood ceiling in our office. Would definitely hire him again.

Another unsatisfied customer. ...

Another unsatisfied customer. I purchased the Star and Tribune deal for $388 to have my deck stained. Called the company immediately and was told "You will have to call back in a month". I called back multiple times and scheduled multiple appointments. Several times no one showed up or they called after the scheduled time to tell me I would need to reschedule. The owner was rude on the phone and every time I called he had to call me back 15 minutes later. It was a complete waste of my time. This went on for months.

One time when we called to schedule the powerwash, the owner tried to convince me I did not need it washed before having it stained. I let him know that I paid for the wash and I wanted it done before staining. He laughed at me and said "That's fine but you are going to be waiting a LONG time."

I finally had enough and called the Star Tribune. They were wonderful and refunded my money immediately. The next day I contacted an independent painter who came out and did the job with no hassle.

STAY AWAY from this company. They will take your money and then string you along for MONTHS all while being rude and condesending to you.

Please except our deepest apologizes. At the time of our deck deal through Star Tribune, the owner Richard Robinson was unable to complete to deals due to an emergency surgery caused by a health scare. So the person your referring to is not apart of our team. We out sourced the deck work and management of this deal with the intent on keeping our good name. In there defense most of their deck customers where satisfied,as you stated Star Tribune did proved a refund, every few refunds where given out of hundreds of deck deals sold. We have a great working relationship with Star Tribune, which is why we have featured with them several times. We have been praised for the service that we have provided individuals and corporations for many years. In the past few years Robinson's Pro Painting has scaled back on the amount of crew member that were typically on call. We are a small business and do our best to provide a reputable service. It is very unfortunate that we were not able to provide this type of service to you. We always intent to hire professionals that gets the job done in a timely and officiant manner. We'd like the opportunity to show you our professionalism with a One Standard size room interior paint job valued at $250. Thank you and Take Care!

There was a bit of a wait to have our deck stained, but I guess that's to be expected since we purchased a Star Tribune Steal Deal along with many others. Richard was a Gem, he even gave us a great deal on painting our basement! Over all they did a Great JOB!

Don't do it!

We hoped we were getting a great deal by purchasing the Star Tribune Steal, but unfortunately, we got quite the run around instead.

Should have gotten a clue that when we purchased it, we got an email from the company stating that although we purchased it in early May (and it expired the end of August), we were going to have to wait another month to make an appointment.

After many attempts to call and set up a time for them to come out (we initiated every phone call), we were told multiple times they'd "be in our area in the next few days" and then they would never showed up. We had purchased the stain, and taken all our deck furniture off and had it stored in anticipation of them coming when they said they would ... and it's *still* sitting in storage because they never came.

Thank GOD we didn't have issues getting a refund from the Star Tribune (we were told by the owner that he would not send us a refund, and a very sarcastic "good luck with that"). It did take a while for the refund to process, but thankfully we didn't lose out on that $288. Kudos to the Star Trib, and apparently, they keep 30% of the profit, so *good luck* to them getting the other 70% back from him.

I would stay as FAR AWAY from this company as possible. The owner is not organized, can't keep his facts straight, and should seriously consider having someone else answer his phone. He has no customer service skills whatsoever. I couldn't be paid enough to let this guy come touch anything on my house.

My wife found their coupon on CrowdCut last April. We decided to hire them to paint our living room and it looks fantastic.

Richard and Howard, our painter, went well above and beyond what we expected. He was friendly and efficient. It was very refreshing to have someone working in our home who took such pride in his work.

I rarely run into company's who provide such good customer service and to see that others have had issues is beyond me, maybe there was a bad apple in the crew. None the less I would hire them again!

Do not let this company near your deck! Here is what they did to me:

- Pressure washed it harshly removing a lot of grain from the wood creating splinters everywhere.

- Took 4 days to do a stain job that should have taken one.

- Applied stain unevenly, it looks like they dumped it on and then pushed it around with a mop (I have pictures if anyone is interested).

- drips and pools of dried stain everywhere on the deck.

- They even left boot marks in the stain for me.

It was so terrible I told them to leave after the first coat. They told me a second coat would fix it (for $40, ha). I did do a second coat and of course their handy work shows through. My only recourse is to strip it and start over or use a solid stain.

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE AND STAY AWAY FROM STAR TRIBUNE STEALS!!!

Also, this place is shady. They use subs and they want you to write checks out to them personally. Do not trust them.

Avoid them! I asked them to stop after completing my deck railings because they did a sloppy job. Dripped stain on patio below. Sprayed 3 gallons ($150) of stain on just the rails ~ most of it into the wind. I offered to pay for the work provided, but they were unwilling to return any refund. My deck now sits pressure washed, but unstained. Gave me an outlandish estimate for the exterior of my house and we negotiated them down 50% ~ they were just trying to take advantage. Unprofessional in communication. DO NOT BUY THIS THROUGH A GROUPON OR STAR TRIB DEAL.

I acknowledge the communications regarding my appointment were a bit challenging. But, I realize that when smaller businesses offer Crowd Cut or Star Trib offers they get bombarded with new customers all at once - some of whom are better than others about reading the fine print in those offers - and I'm sure it can get pretty crazy to keep us all happy. Once we worked out the details of our scheduled time it was just fine. Howard, the painter they sent, did a GREAT job and he was wonderful to work with. I would use Howard again.

It was a little rocky when scheduling a appointment because of weather conditions, so I had to waited a week after my original appointment, which is the reason I didn't give them 4 stars, but guess that's to be expected. As soon as the weather cleared the guys came out and did a great job staining my deck. They've got my vote!

The communication was so poor ...

The communication was so poor from Robinson's Pro Painting that we didn't end up using their service after we purchased a coupon of CrowdCut. The short version of the story is that Robinson's sold coupons via CrowdCut that were misleading and they were unwilling to fix the communication error. I purchased a coupon for $200 towards $500 of "Full Exterior Painting" . I found out later that "Full" means to paint the entier exterior of my house.. This wasn't discovered until the day they scheduled to show up, which they planned to do without asking me any questions about my house or provide a total estimate on services. I had assumed that they were going to show up, and I would be willing to point out a few hours of work for them doing to paint repair work. I own a 100 year old plus house with wood siding, there is nobody who would allow a contractor to paint the whole house without vetting.

After sending them away, I requested a refund from CrowdCut. CrowdCut then pointed the finger at the vendor because they had already been paid.

Robinson's sent me back to Crowdcut, and after then going back to Robinson's with an offer to refund part of my $200 minus costs and adminstrative fees , they just didn't even both to reply.

Frusterating and a waste of $200.

claimed iconBusiness Response06/07/2012

Sir, Again, we are truly sorry about the misunderstanding. We have offered you interior services that amount to the $200 dollars that you spent, but you declined. Either way the offer still remains. In regards to poor communication / advertisement, We are always happy to answer any questions you may have, but you choose not to ask before you purchased. Our Crowd Cut Deal also states that there are no refunds. We would not ever want to cheat anyone therefore all restrictions and guild lines are clearly stated. Typically and in this case "Full" means "Entire" and "Partial" means "Half" or "Part". The voucher cost $200 and was worth $500 towards a "FULL Exterior Paint job"

Robinson's Pro Painting did a FABULOUS job today. They did some interior painting and it looks so great. Plus they showed up when they said they were going to, they took even less time than expected, they left the site totally spotless. If I have any painting to do in the future these guys are now my go to painters.
