06/01/2018: I had another session with Lyn and it was very pleasant. Lyn explained the miscommunication and I was pleased.

05/29/2018: I have been hesitating on writing this review for the past few days because I couldn't bring myself to give a low rating. So, I self-consciously avoided it instead. However, I decided today is the day and it is something that I have to bring myself to do.

Lyn, the moderately new business owner and hair stylist of Ritual Hair Design, is a wonderful, honest, and charismatic person. Her knowledge of hair is exquisite and when you meet her in-person, it is clearly obviously she has been in this area of business for many, many years. When my hair was under her care, it was treated with the utmost professional craftsmanship that I've ever experienced so far, and I felt extremely comfortable with every step of the process. She made some small-talk as most hair stylists do at hair salons and it was smoothing while my hair was getting bleached with a multitude of supposedly skin-irritating chemicals. To keep it short, the service done on my hair handled by Lyn was excellent.

Now comes the 2 missing stars where I vent out my frustration with the "business part" my experience. The week before my appointment with Lyn, I called in for the first-time to ask questions about the process of getting my hair done and getting an estimated quote on how much it would cost in total. Over the phone call, Lyn told me it would be $60, but she wasn't too sure and asked me to come in on that same day to get an in-person consultation. When we met in-person, she went over in great details of what would happen and how it would happen and how long it would take. In the end, before she gave me her business card for her contact number and our future appointment date, I asked her how much it would all cost. She told me it would be $110. With that, I happily look forward to the upcoming appointment... And fast forward to the day of the appointment, after ~2 hours and multitasking with other customers coming in, Lyn got my hair "half" done and told me to contact her soon to come in again to finish the entire process of my hair. I went up to the register to pay the bill, expecting $110 and footing a generous tip to end the day but was instead greeted with $120. No biggy, it's only a $10 difference and I didn't want to make a fuss about it as we ended the ordeal it with a happy note and there were other customers in the store sitting and waiting in the lobby. I waited a week to contact Lyn again as her store hours were short on the weekends and there was a holiday afterward. I called and spoke with an assistant of Lyn's to schedule another appointment to finish my hair. In the phone call, I was quoted that it will cost ~$70. At this point, I was extremely confused as I had thought the original thing was supposed to cost only $110 during our original consultation. I asked the assistant to explain why and I was given an answer, but a vague one at that.

To end this review before I end up writing a full-length essay, the reason for the missing 2 stars is the unclear pricing of getting a service done. I was told multiple difference quotes and ended up with multiple different numbers. Honestly, I don't care about how high the price is, I care more about the honesty and the transparently of the whole ordeal and I did not receive that during my entire experience with Lyn at Ritual Hair Design.

Overall, would I recommend this place to people looking to have their hair done professionally? Yes, absolutely. But just be warned, the quotes and consultation done by Lyn may not be said and done.

The folks at Ritual Hair Design are really friendly and they do great work. I am thrilled with my new look. My hair has never, ever looked and felt so healthy. Every day someone compliments my hair and asks where I got it done. I feel so fancy :-)
