On my most recent visit to Taki, I ordered a simple Nabe Yaki Udon--a Japanese noodle soup with tempura fried vegetables and tempura shrimp with a tempura sauce.

The "tempura shrimp" was frozen, panko breaded and fried. There was nothing tempura about it, and it was not fresh. The shrimp was chewy and rubbery. The single onion ring I got was cold in the middle. The tempura fried vegetables were not fresh. The mushrooms were rubbery. The noodles were undercooked. The egg that was placed on top was fried hard, completely overcooked and gross.

I was served a salad with the entree. The ginger dressing was old-tasting and watery. The lettuce was wilted, watery, and starting to turn brown.

The awful experience at Taki doesn't stop at the food, though. I've tried to eat at Taki in the past, but I can't, because the atmosphere and service are abysmal.

While waiting to pick up my food, after being told it would take 15 minutes to prepare and arriving when I was told it would be ready, the woman who co-owns the restaurant sat at a table loudly slurping a bowl of soup and noodles. It sounded, from the unholy slurping, open-mouthed chewing and other loud eating sounds like her food was really good. She sat on her ass, ignoring me, looking at her phone, and eating as loudly as I have ever heard a person eat. I think I have seen hyenas with better table manners.

On top of all of that, the oversized TV behind the sushi bar is cranked up loud, and always blaring obnoxious politics or sports. The place is in poor repair; it's not clean; and I shudder to think of the state of the kitchen.

The owners of this restaurant need to start treating the business like a business; respect their customers, by considering their customers' experience in their restaurant, and making it a clean, peaceful, comfortable place to enjoy a meal; and stop serving frozen, warmed-over, over-priced crap. The food here is dreadful, but as bad as it is, the experience of eating here is far worse.

Food And Service Have Declined

We ate here last night with our son and daughter. This used to be my husbands favorite place for sushi he ate there at least monthly. Last night our service was poor. The waitress took our daughters drink for a refill and never returned. The tuna didn't have the bright red color it normally does in our spicy tuna roll. We left half of our sushi on the plate and that never happens. The volcano roll was soggy, warm inside and burned on top., it was just nasty. We will not return.

Love It Love It Love It!!!

This place is awesome!! The sushi is fresh, the service is fast, and the prices are reasonable!! I seriously eat here about 4 times a week for either lunch or dinner. If I'm ever not sure about what I want, I just ask them to make me something and surprise me. I've yet to be disappointed!! If you love sushi you should definitely give Taki a try. You won't be sorry!!

Best sushi not in downtown Nashville!

This place is the real deal--and we are picky about our sushi. We eat here about once a week and love having sushi so close to Mt. Juliet. Check it out!
