Chim Chimney arrived at scheduled time for inspection ($150) and cleaning, installation of chimney cap/caps for additional charge. Result: heighth of the chimney needed to be reduced from 5 feet to 3. Also, needed to replace the damper/fix crack in base of fireplace, etc. He gave me two estimates-$5,500 or $8,500, depending on chosen option. I said I wasn't going to use the fireplace, only wanted it cleaned and capped. He said a chimney cap would be $525. He gave measurements of both chimneys, but said only the largest had access to fireplace, smaller one was just decorative. Received calls from them for next 3 days! I opted not to take either option, just paid the $150 inspection fee. I bought a chimney cap ($40) and had it put on the next day for $100. Took less than 5 minutes. Chimney cleaned for $200. (When I asked him about cleaning, he said only it would be "included in options.") A week later, birds arrived via the "no access" chimney. Misinformation and high-pressure sales!

Chim chimney came out yesterday and again today to inspect our chimney. We won this inspection at the home show and I am glad we did. Very professional and very good at what they do. They were very, very thorough and told us everything. I would definitely recommend them to any friends
