First impressions are so very important and in customer service, the first person you come in contact with often sets the tone for your experience. When you are greeted with a smile and friendly disposition, it can alleviate any stress that may come later. Especially in a medical setting when you are already nervous to begin with. To be greeted with a cold demeanor really stinks. My impression of the staff member that I met was that she didn't like her job, or people. She was rude, cold, and frankly, imposing. No smile, no friendly conversation, just clinical and to the point. While I understand the seriousness of the job, there is no reason to treat the people who make your job possible, so terribly. Customer service isn't always a natural trait, but it can he taught, and this lady needs to be taught not only customer service, but compassion.
