"Chemex Pool and Spa Supplies first opened in 1978 next to the Tri-County Flea Market in Smithtown, NY. The Owners and Operators of Chemex Pool and Spa Supplies opened with the vision of filling a need for a local pool chemical store that would carry the necessities for the homeowner. CHEMEX Smithtown slowly increased its product line to include not only chemicals, but a full line to tools for the pool, as well as toys and games and filters and pumps. In 1989, CHEMEX opened its second location in Hauppauge, NY. (pictured)"
