The First and Last Tavern has been a Hartford landmark since 1936. The First and Last Tavern which derives its name for its location being the first tavern inside the town line and the last tavern when leaving the City of Hartford. For many years, it was know as the “tradesmen’s bar” when the “Original Special” of pasta, with a meatball/sausage and salad on a single plate was served at the bar or in a booth, often with a draft beer or glass of wine. Over time the First and Last pasta sauce has gained a following in the community. As the years passed, the sauce remained the same and the award winning coal fired brick oven pizza was added to the menu. The First and Last Tavern truly is a Hartford institution.

Overrated, overpriced.

Their food is so pretentious it makes you cringe.

It is not bad, but it leaves a lot to be desired.

They try to combine elements that do not belong together.
