Our dog Molly loves Top Dog. She is a bichon and gets excited when we put her in the car to take her. She doesn't even look back at us once we get in the door and they take her inside. She doesn't care we are leaving her, she just wants to get inside to play with the other small dogs. The employees are good at giving her the meds we bring and Molly always loves going. The employees always greet her by name and she seems to like the employees. She's never come home dirty or injured. She seems to get good care when she is there. We like Top Dog. I am aware they have new owners now but the employees still seem to like taking care of Molly.

After reading other reviews I found it important to submit my review. I am not a relative or friend of the owners or anyone that works at Top Dog, so therefore I feel I am very impartial! I have been taking my little bichon mix dog to Top Dog for probably 8 years now and have been very, very pleased! When I drop my little dog off the staff is extremely friendly and shows they really care about my dog and my wishes. My little Paisley is always clean, happy and looks very well cared for when I pick her up. I love the fact that she has her own room instead of a kennel. Therefore, I am giving this resort 5 stars!

I'm not a customer of Top Dog and won't ever be one. I worked at Top Dog for only 3 short months and you would think it was the best 3 months of my life getting paid to play with dogs all day? But it wasn't. It was definitely a good time playing with my furry Friends, but it wasn't worth being in a hostile work environment whenever the owner, Deb Heine, was around.

On my first few days of training at the resort, the manager, Kurt, was actually warning me of how mean Deb can get towards her employees. I thought he was exaggerating and brushed it off, but being mean is an understatement of how that woman treats her employees. I was embarrassed when I told a couple of people where I was working and right away they said how rude Deb was to them on the phone. She expects her employees to work 2-10 one night, then wants them back at 630 in the morning. Most of the employees lived In Sioux Falls so between travel time after work to get home, whind Down time, time to get up and ready then travel time to get back to the resort in the morning probably gives an average about 5 hrs of sleep, If that, and she'd expect you not to be tired the next day. Employees also never got breaks, not even a ten minute one just to get something in our stomachs.

Deb claims to be a dog lover, but discriminates against specific breeds like pitbulls. She doesn't accept pitbulls bcuz "they'll bite" and "they're dangerous" , but she will accept her rich client's dogs regardless of their behavior. I was bit a few times (she witnessed one time with her own 4 eyes.) by a dog who's owner was the owner of a big hotel here in Sioux Falls so she doesnt turn that client's Dog away bcuz she will lose the publicity. I am a pitbull owner, and I knw she would never harm a fly, but she couldn't be accepted into the resort bcuz of her breed. The Dog I'm speaking about that bit Me was known as a "solo" Dog which meant he could not be outside with the other dogs, and there was actually a handful of dogs labeled as solo bcuz of the biting and not being able to get along with the other dogs. The owners of these dogs dnt even knw their Dog is a solo dog.

Its been almost a year now since I was fired for having to have an emergency liver transplant. Sure, I'm upset that I was fired over something I couldnt control, even more upset that I was fired while I was still in the hospital only a week after the transplant, but this is just an example of how heartless the owner is. And not only to me, but to alot of people which is what provoked my review today bcuz a friend of mine just had a bad experience with trying to get her Dog in there and she said she's never been treated so horribly. The younger teenage employees do great with the dogs, dnt get me wrong, but what Deb doesn't seem to understand is that its the clients who are paying for the stay, not the dogs. Shes far from a people person and is in the wrong line of work if she can't treat customers or her employees with respect.

I wish there was an option to give zero stars. I was looking for a place to board my dog and after some internet searching and location, I decided to go with Top Dog. After getting all of my dog's information sent in, reservation booked, AND vaccinations faxed over, I received an interesting call today. The owner had called me and told me my dog was not welcome to stay there. She had told me because he had been to another doggy daycare once within the last month, and had been to the dog park he could potentially carry something into their facility. I understand with the dog flu going around that people want to protect their current customers, but to find this out after going through all of this trouble it was quite irritating. It had almost been a month that he had been to the other doggy daycare, with no signs of sickness. In addition, I thought I was being a good pet owner by taking my dog to the dog park, but apparently I am exposing him to disease. In my opinion, dogs can be exposed to disease everywhere outside because their are many types of animals that are not vaccinated all around. This is why my dog is ALWAYS up to date on every shot (including bordatella). He also is protected by flea and ticks and has heartworm medication. The thing that frustrated me the most was that she was flat out rude to me. Her tone was not pleasant, and it seemed as though she just did not want my dog there. Any person or dog who has met my pup loves him (I promise I am not saying that just because he is my dog). Also, she told me there was no sign of him even having a reservation or his vaccinations ever being sent there, even though I have a voicemail on my phone of her manager saying that he had received the vaccinations for my dog and just needed me to go fill out a survey on their website. When I told her this, she basically told me there was no way this way true even though I offered to bring in my phone to play the message for her. I have now heard from many others of their bad experiences here (including employees) and would NOT EVER recommend boarding your dog here.

I called called Top Dog only to get information on the doggie day care. Wow. So rude. I hope the staff treats the animals in their care better than the humans paying the money to keep the business open. Based on first impressions, I wouldn't take my pup there if THEY paid ME $20/day. I wanted to rate this biz with zero stars, but was forced to give at least one star.
