Dr. Eric L. Shirley, a native of Latrobe, Pennsylvania, graduated with B.S. and D.M.D. degrees from the University of Pittsburgh. Upon completing dental school in 1991, he served three years in the U.S. Navy Dental Corps. Dr. Shirley entered private practice with his dental school classmate Robert T. Kramer, D.M.D. in 1994. Currently, Dr. Shirley is on the American Dental Association's Council on Member Insurance and Retirement Plans. Professionally, Dr. Shirley has served as a chairman of the Pennsylvania Dental Association's New Dentist Committee, the fifth district representative to the Council on Dental Care Programs for the PDA and president of the Harrisburg Area Dental Society. Dr. Shirley was the former vice chairman of the PDAIS Board of Directors, a former chairman of the endorsed vendor committee, and has been a delegate and an alternate delegate to the Pennsylvania Dental Association House of Delegates. Dr. Shirley holds membership in the Harrisburg Area Dental Society, Pennsylvania Dental Association, American Dental Association, and Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Shirley also participates in the Pinnacle Health SMILES program and volunteers his services at the Christ Lutheran Church’s dental clinic for the underserved. Dr. Shirley, his wife, Leigh, and two children reside in Lower Paxton Township. He often visits his children at the University of Pittsburgh and Midwestern Dental School in Phoenix, Arizona. He also enjoys watching Steelers, Penguins, and PITT football and basketball games. Dr. Shirley also likes to go skiing, play volleyball and ice hockey, and go fly-fishing. 'Recent advances in materials and techniques have allowed dentists the ability to recreate the natural beauty that has been lost over the years. CEREC has allowed for dentists to provide same day crown and implant cases, and modern endodontic methods have enabled predictable one visit root canal therapies. '
