Called to see when Claude could come pick up my non starting mower (he does offer this service). He said he was busy, call next week. I did. Still busy.Try next week. I rented a pickup from Lowes and got it to him. I called to find out if my mower was fixed after leaving it for almost a week. Claude said he had the carb rebuilt ($90) but the engine is seized up and it's not worth fixing and he doesn't want to spend the time working on it. That I need to come get it immediately. If he's in such a hurry why did I have to call him for an update? That mower used is still selling for $2500, so even if I had to put a newly rebuilt engine in it for $1000, it would be something to consider. Clearly not big on customer service.

Brought my 8-year old lawnmower to Harrisburg Lawnmower because it was idling up and down badly. They did the work as expected and it ran great for another 4 or so years. I had a good experience with them, and plan to take my chainsaw to them, assuming they work on those as well.

BTW, I did look at their used lawn mowers and decided to buy new for just $100 or so more.

I strive to take my business to local shops rather than big box places. I have bought all my parts (blades, belts, filters etc ) from Harrisburg Lawnmower sales since I moved here in 1999. Claude seemed friendly enough and we chatted for a few minutes each time I was in there for something. I even donated a couple of working mowers that I inherited to him. I assumed he would be a good person to take my repair to once I had the occasion and recently I had that occasion.

I brought my push mower out of storage and realized some gas had been left in it for more than a year. The gas had gone bad and left the “varnish” coating all over everything. I cleaned the old gas out and took the carburetor apart and cleaned it up the best I could. I cleaned the float, the needle and seat and the jets and reassembled. I put a filter in line to keep more trash from entering. The mower, however, still ran extremely rough. It “surged”, throttled up and down, up and down. I took the mower to Harrisburg Mower, told them what the situation was and asked them to fix it. I said if it needs a new carburetor or whatever, just fix it. I want it running right. I also asked to them to put a new pull cord on the mower. Claude called later that day, said the mower was fixed. I went down to get it and he gave me a bill for $48.00 and I gave him $50.00 and said keep the change.

I took the mower home and cranked it up…still did exactly the same thing. It runs no better at all. I took it back and Claude said “I’m covered up; I don’t have time to work on it now”. I said “I am in no hurry, keep it as long as you need”. He then said “take it somewhere else, I aint gonna work on it.” He refused to give me any of the $48.00 back and he would not repair the mower. He is a first order crook. I would eat my grass like a cow before I would let him work on a mower for me.

Worst customer service I ever ...

Worst customer service I ever received! They sold us an old rusted piece of junk and when it spewed out oil and wouldn't start (just started using it), they didn't have a replacement & wouldn't return money because they said we did something to it (by starting it up and mowing?) The owner guy called us dishonest and liars and threatened us!! STAY AWAY FROM HARRISBURG LAWNMOWER SHOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
