They are acting as the vet for a large local puppy mill. I do hope they don't know but not sure how they couldn't. It is appalling that a vet would turn a blind eye to this just for money.

No idea who the first rating came from but they're delusional. This place is the best, we just moved to Hammond and got a puppy on Friday evening. After seeing the conditions he was living in we knew he needed to see a vet first thing. We walked in on Saturday morning with no appointment and they were so nice and got us in within ten minutes. Our little Kilo had fleas, no shots, never been groomed, nothing. Not to mention he was much older than we thought he was. They gave him all of his shots, puppy food which he LOVED, and preventative pills to take over the next day. Everyone was so polite and caring. They were very accommodating and affordable. Not to mention have an online store as well as a little patient portal for your past and upcoming appointments, so convenient! I would never take our puppy anywhere else. They are truly professionals and have a family atmosphere that I look for when choosing my fur babies vet.

I love the service that Hammond Animal Hospital provides. The staff is very friendly and the doctors are very knowledgable. I was appauled by the review listed on this page. My pet's care was the first priority of the doctors and staff and they offered me different options to pay for the services provided to my Bella. I wouldn't take my pet anywhere else. They are definitely a class act.

I will never take any of my animals to this place, they are money hungry and could care less about the animal! To validate my rating I will explain what happened to our family Monday.



We have a beautiful 7 month old kitty named Flavor, unfortunately she came into heat and got pregnant while in the care of family. She was due between the 11th & 15th of January 2009 and we were what we thought well prepared. Sunday morning around 8am she went into labor, had her first one after 11am (lived & doing great) and the second had to be assisted after 8pm it was dead on arrival. We watched her closely all the night and Monday morning she was still in full blown labor, growing weaker by the second so with my vet still not opened I called The Hammond Animal Hospital & Pet Lodge. I had been by there and seen many people coming & going with beautiful animals, I had also heard a couple people praise them a few years back. BIG MISTAKE! They would not do anything without a tremendous amount of money upfront, they had wanted to induce her labor then take her into C-section after 30 minutes to take the babies and spay her! A deadly combo that would have certainly taken her life according to my regular vet! My husband waited with her in the waiting room for over 30 minutes and in that time kitten #3 was making an appearance. The nurse noticed and grabbed our kitty from my husband and ran her back to one of the exam rooms for the doctor to assist in the whelping and then gave the seemingly dead kitten an injection under the tongue (28.00 injection!) and did not even keep my kitty or her kitten long enough to know if they would be alright or what. They were quick to dismiss a kitty in stress and to drag her back to make more money then just the office visit but lacked in caring and compassion, or dare I say even in professionalism. I will not go anywhere near that place again, they are a rip off and a fraud. It's just a shame that not everyone can see they are being taken on the money train with this place!



My regular vet is Dr Knight & Associates in Hammond LA. (985) 345-0440. I HIGHLY recommend them to everyone who loves their pet as one of the family, why chance your loved one at this place and their dangerous procedures when you can get quality/compassionate care at reasonable cost!
