The truth is, you don’t become a Louisiana favorite just by putting the word “authentic” on your sign. When you’ve served Cajun meals as long as we have, you learn the difference between real food and a bland imitation, and our guests know it too. Grilled, fried or on ice–there’s time cooked into every dish and time spent on every home cooked recipe, so that every aroma, every bite, every sip and every gathering is memorable. We’ve spent more than 80 years creating a recipe for something much greater than a place for a lunch break or night out. It’s a place to share (or keep the whole plate to yourself), a place where you always have a seat ready at the table and a place where you’re always part of the family.

Food poisoning. My father got food poisoning from this restaurant. We have never really liked the service here. The best we've ever experienced was the location in Metairie. Anyway, me and my sister were at a friend's for a party while my dad and mom went to eat out and see a movie. They went and ate at this location. My dad ordered chicken and sausage gumbo, my mom a po boy I believe, not totally sure. Fast forwarding, almost exactly 8 hours later in the early morning, my dad had stomach pains and nausea. He threw up a few times. When I woke up a few hours later, my mom told me about it.

We thought about what he ate that might have caused the food poisoning. My dad, being in service for 10+ years said that andouille is cooked in advance, weeks, months. We then concluded that the chicken was most likely to have been improperly prepared.

We are disappointed, and needless to say, we will never return to dine at this location. We recommend you take caution, or take the same action.

Always a MUST to eat at Hudson's. Waiter recommended Blackened Flounder for lunch, which was excellent. Hush puppies are to die for!

Gumbo heaven

Don's seafood has been around the Baton Rouge area for years and years. I do not know if they have been sold or maintain the management from 30 years ago, one thing is for certain...the gumbo is fantastic! We were visiting our home town and had dinner at Don's. The food was great. I had a cup of gumbo as recommended by a freind. The gumbo is very dark, and very thin. Gumbo comes in lots of different colors and thicknesses, from soup to gravy, and barely brown to a dark rich almost chochlate color. My favorite and I think most authentic is a very dark roux that is almost water thin. The key must be the stock they use. My dinner of fried shrimp and fried catfish was hot, moist with just the right amount of crust. I would highly recommend this for those who love cajun foods and those that just want to try it. Makes me wish I still lived in Louisiana.

GREAT ATMOSPHERE!

This place is great for family, friends, or even a date. The atmosphere is updated to reflect the up and coming changes in Hammond. This is also a great place to relax after work: Some friends and I love two for one martinis on Tuesday! The food is great and the service is wonderful!! I would recommend to any "out of towner" or anybody just looking to have a good meal and a great time!

The best decision I ever made!

The wait staff is to be given the highest accolades!Always at your beck and call. One never needed to raise a finger to get their attention nor did one have them rushing in to ask if everything was "OK" when you had a mouthful of food. Waiting in the background, observing, seeming to have a sixth sense, knowing when to approach your table then wait for you to speak first. A very refreshing change in service. The only thing better than the service was the cuisine. Quality and quantity-exceptional.We broke our rule loosely prohibiting us from eating at the same place more than once during an excursion since we promised to experience many local culinary delights. Don's had our crew gracing their tables 3 times on a 5-day trip. If the experience of a food coma is on you list of things to do, Don's is the place. The massive portions of Shrimp Complete, endless and massive desserts will accommodate your fantasies.

Notably good service experience. Shanika was very pleasant

Food is good for the price. Good for a company Christmas party but a little shy of a place to bring your inlaws for the first time out
