History of Bowman and Thalls Insurance, Inc Our agency was established on May 1, 1887, by John Teetor and was named the Teetor Insurance Agency. Sometime between its date of origin and the year 1900, John Teetor employed Arthur Hunter who worked for him in an office on the second floor of their old commercial building. Between that time and 1906, John Teetor entered into a partnership agreement with Mr. Hunter and continued to operate as Teetor Insurance Agency. On July 14, 1906, the agency name was changed to Teetor-Mason Insurance Agency after Mr. Hunter sold his interest to Ed Mason. Arthur Hunter remained at the agency as an employee. On September 16, 1921, the agency was sold entirely to Ed Mason, and the name changed to the Ed Mason Agency. Soon after, on August 15, 1922, the business was again sold, this time to Grace O. Rudy and was known as the Grace O. Rudy Agency. On December 1, 1925, Grace married William E. Immel, and at that time Mr. Immel retired from his work at Perfect Circle Corporation to manage the agency until 1950. The agency was then purchased by Leonard L Heath. Mr. Heath continued to operate as Immel Insurance Agency until permanently changing it to the Leonard L Heath Agency in 1952. In the early years of the agency, it was known to have specialized in farm business. Apparently, Arthur Hunter would start out on Monday morning with a horse and buggy to solicit business all over Wayne County during the week and return home on Friday or Saturday. Some years later, however, the agency slowly began to expand into other personal lines of insurance and also some commercial accounts. It remained the Leonard L Heath Agency until August 1, 1979, when it was sold to Wasson-Bowman & Thalls Insurance, Inc Partners, Joseph Wasson, Arden L Bowman, and Ralph E Thalls II, formed WBT Inc. and began to increase their markets with products in all lines of insurance. Mr. Wasson entered the insurance business in 1961, and received Chartered Life Underwriter designation in 1970. He attended many industry schools received numerous awards during his career including the National Sales Achievement & National Quality Awards. Mr. Bowman began his insurance career in 1962, received intensive training in all areas of Life and Property and Casualty insurance marketing, was a member of the Indiana Leaders Club, and a Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow. Mr. Thalls started his own Property and Casualty agency in Hagerstown IN in 1972. He has been a member of Motorists Mutual Insurance Company's Hall of Fame and served on its Agents Advisory Board. WBT Inc. operated out of two office locations for the first time in its history, one at 12 E Main Street, Hagerstown, Indiana and the other at 2 Parkview Court in Cambridge City, Indiana. In 1983, Arden's son Bradley R. Bowman joined the agency as a producer specializing in personal and commercial lines. The Corporation purchased Mr. Wasson's interest in 1989, and the name was changed to Bowman & Thalls Insurance, Inc Brad has over 25 years of experience in all lines of insurance and earned his Certified Insurance Counselor designation in June of 1998. The Cambridge City office moved to a new location in 1992, 120 Main Street, Cambridge City, Indiana and remained there until moving back to its original Cambridge City office building, this time located at 1 Parkview Court, Cambridge City, Indiana. Arden L. Bowman passed away in 2002, and his son Bradley purchased his interest in the Corporation. He and Mr. Thalls continue to operate the agency at both Hagerstown and Cambridge City. Mr. Thalls and Mr. Bowman continue to strive to bring quality products at competitive pricing levels to insurance customers in the Western Wayne county and surrounding areas. A value is required.
