The Guilford Country Store has always been a local landmark in the town of Guilford, Vermont. Founded in 1817, it has seen the town through almost two centuries of changes. In 2010, it had a brief period where it was closed as a business, but Guilford saw to it that their beloved store would not be closed for long. The Friends of Algiers Village Inc., a non profit orginization focused on maintaing the integrity of the Guilford community, brought together a grand fundraising effort over the course of three years. Finally, the doors reopened in the summer of 2013 under the new management of Mark and Suzanne Tessitore, a local couple. The renovation has created a friendly local store environment that offers both indoor and outdoor seating areas in which to enjoy a meal from our deli, or just relax, have a cup of coffee, and surf the web. We sell everything from bait, to ice, to pesto pasta, to mosquito repellant, we have all your lunch and grocery needs so you don't have to drive all the way to Brattleboro! We'll greet you with a smile, take your sandwich order, and even bring it to you as you chat with your friends. Fresh produce is on the way, with local produce in the form of blackberries already on our shelves. We are looking into having a weigh station set up as hunting season rolls around. We will also be selling hunting and fishing licenses for your convenience. Fishing gear will also be stocked as soon as possible. The Guilford Country Store has been revamped and revitalized and we are ready to serve you.
