Very dissatisfied.

Visit 1: In April, 2012, I took my Lenovo T61 laptop to Silicon Valley Computer for repair – it was making horrendous noises and I was afraid of losing all of my information. I was billed $397 for a new fan with install and a tune-up. Upon returning home, I noticed that the noise was reduced but not gone. My husband, the family computer expert who did not listen to the machine at the time, said that computers make noise – so I ignored the noise and continued to use it.

Visit 2: My husband used my laptop for the first time since repair in August, 2012. He agreed with me that the noise was of concern and took the machine back to Silicon Valley. After blowing out the fan, the noise was improved, so he returned home. After using the computer, we decided it was still abnormally and annoyingly noisy. At this point, my husband ordered and installed a replacement fan. The computer wires and tape that needed to be moved to replace the fan appeared to be unmoved since the machine was built in the factory. Since my husband’s install, the computer has been whisper quiet. Silicon Valley is the expert – why did they return our computer on two occasions without correcting the problem?

Visit 3: When I returned to the store to explain that my husband finally fixed our noise problem and request a refund, I was told that it was OUR responsibility to ask THEM to replace the fan again. Since we had done it ourselves and not asked them to do the second repair, they had no obligation to give us a refund. I pointed out that my receipt had an incorrect part number for the replacement fan – it was a fan for a different type of Lenovo T61 laptop. My experience was in keeping with the scenario where there was no fan installed, but instead Silicon Valley tried to blow clean my old fan and charged me for a new install. When I said that I planned to review their business on the internet and give others the benefit of my experience, I was told that they have ‘ a high powered lawyer’ and was threatened with a defamation lawsuit.

Treated like a family member. No surprise they have lasted as long as they have at there other location. Excellent work, fair price, same day service!!!
