Provided by YP.comMy wife and I stopped at this Burger King on Sunday, 12/28/2008, about 1:00 PM. We had a fairly satisfactory experience at this same restaurant about a month earlier, but not this time. The main problem was the girl working the register, the order-taker, the first person the customer has contact with. She seemed to think that waiting on customers was an optional part of her job description. Despite there being a line of customers, she would occasionally leave her station to do nothing in particular, mainly to chat with her co-workers. When we reached the front of the line, she again walked away, completely ignoring us. After waiting a minute or two, I called out "Hello, anyone here?" I was ignored, as the girl continued to chat with her co-workers. After waiting another minute, I called out more loudly "Hello! Is anyone working?" This finally seemed to get her attention, but her response astonished me. Rather than a polite "May I help you?" or an apology for her neglect, she snapped back "Yeah, yeah" in an insulting, sarcastic tone. Were we not so hungry I would have walked out immediately. She proceeded to take our order, but with obvious reluctance and incomptence, being apparently unfamiliar with the register's keyboard.
It was just an amazing display of rudeness and incompetence. This girl seemed to think she was doing us a favor by finally deigning to take our order, rather than that we were doing her a favor by choosing this restaurant. I was a manager for another fast-food chain for several years, and I can tell you that I would fire such an employee immediately. And we will never set foot in that Burger King again.
