Dr. Thomas Link is an attending neurosurgeon at North Shore University Hospital and an assistant professor of neurosurgery at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.With a specialization in cerebrovascular neurosurgery, Dr. Link has expertise in both open surgical and endovascular/interventional neurosurgical procedures, giving him the unique ability to choose the most appropriate, unbiased approach for each individual patient.Driven by the limitless discoveries waiting to be made in the field of neuroscience, Dr. Link is a technical innovator, who continues to be fascinated by the brain and spinal cord, and greatly values his bond with his patients.A Long Island native, Dr. Link studied biomedical engineering at Johns Hopkins University and received a Master of Science in Engineering. He received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed his residency in neurological surgery at New York-Presbyterian in Manhattan. He continued on to a fellowship at Weill Cornell concentrating in endovascular neurosurgery/interventional neuroradiology.Dr. Link has a passion for research and innovation, striving to advance the field of neurosurgery in order to provide better care for patients. He is currently the lead investigator on two clinical trials involving a minimally invasive alternative and adjunct to surgery for chronic subdural hematomas, a procedure which he helped develop and has the potential to significantly improve patient outcomes. He also started a novel clinical trial investigating the use of intra-arterial neuroprotective substances in stroke intervention. He prides himself on practicing medicine that is led by interpersonal relationship and patient-centered care.Dr. Link is a member of various professional neurosurgical organizations, including the American Academy of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS), and Society of Neuro-interventional Surgeons (SNIS). He has an extensive list of peer reviewed publications to his credit, including works for Neurosurgery, Journal of Neurosurgery, Operative Neurosurgery, World Neurosurgery, Interventional Neuroradiology, Journal of Clinical Neuroscience, and Cell Medicine. In 2018, he received an award for innovation in neurosurgical publishing.
