The staff here is great!
They answered every question I had and didn't mind that I called often to check up on her.
My dog went from healthy to critically ill in less than 24 hours. Our local vet got her stable enough before closing for the day and told us to take her here because she needed constant monitoring and IV meds to pull her out of her crisis. Our vet told us she has Addison's disease.
Thank you for playing a vital role in saving my goofy girl.

I so appreciate how my animals and I were treated by the staff at this emergency clinic. They come across as very caring and extremely competent. When I entered the clinic with my dog, staff immediately responded and took her to the back to get her the help she needed without talking $$$ first. They also didn't pressure me to spend money for surgery that would not have saved my girl. I've dealt with other emergency clinics and vets who were all about the money. This place is all about doing what's best for the animal.

I have to jump in here. I see these NEGATIVE reviews and must speak out! There are times when you cannot help but put your best friend to sleep. There are times medicnies and anasthesia are NOT the best solution. This is not the movies where you rish in with a bleeding pet and 20 minutes later walk out with a bandaid and a lollypop. Nope, not gonna happen.



I first took a pet here who had eaten rat poison. I was utterly distraught and knew she was a gonner. They did all they could, and saved her.



First, this place is open after hours. They are not your typical vet. Second, they are well staffed and trained for anything that may come through that door.THINK ABOUT THAT! You get a very knowledgeable veterinarian to be there at 3:30am in case you need them. OF COURSE it is going to be expensive! I took another pet there because he swallowed a bee. Lots of swelling but he is fine now. Yes the bill weas about that or a car payment, and I'd pay it again.



So before you listen to those here who whine about how medicine works, see if they have any letters after their name. Before you value another post, see if they expected sparkles and rainbows instead of the real world.



We have pets, they are family, they are expensive, and they are worth it. This place is on speed dial though they are an hour away, from my house. Because they are the best.

This place is a joke. You'd be better off putting a bandaid on your pet and waiting for your regular vet. These people are incompetent and looking for a way into your wallet.



I recently took two of our pets in for an upper respiratory infection since our regular vet was closed. They charged me $65.00 for the first one and $55.00 just to examine the second one. The examine consisted of taking a temp, getting their weight and that was it! Dr. Rios didn't even bother looking at them. She walked in and said they were going to the back room and I said, "Oh no they are not". She seemed offended.



Every person I saw was sitting around waiting for their pet for hours, while we listened to a small dog screaming in terror and pain for about 15 minutes. None of the staff seemed a bit concerned about the screaming as though it were common place.



I later found out they were putting a cast on a small dog with a broken leg. EVER HEARD OF PAIN MEDS? Apparently not! It made me really, really angry.



No one listened to my pets lungs or heart, or bothered looking at their eyes or noses for any discharge which was why I brought them there. Dr. Rios picked them up and declared they were underweight. (They are little round balls of fur.) She manipulated the hind leg of one and I thought, "What is she doing? It has a cold, not a hurt leg".



Further, they wanted to "take them to the back" to give them a injection and put drops in their nose, and look for other ways to run up the bill.



Three 1/2 hours and $200.00 later, I walked out with some amoxicilin and nose drops for them. Really? That's worth $200.00? I should charge you for the waste of my time.



If it's truly an emergency and you have no where else to go, then you have my sympathy, but at least you have a heads up of what it's like and what to expect. I would avoid this place like the plague.



What Beware said is correct. They throw your pet in a kennel and then take the next ones in while they sit there and do nothing with them. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Do not take your pet here. My boyfriend brought in his dog awhile ago that had gotten attacked by a coyote. Staff and doctors seem nice and made it seem like the outcome would be positive. They made it seem like they would start surgery right away, yet it was hours before they tried to save our dog even though she laid in the kennel still bleeding and she seemed to be the most serious injury in there. $1000 dollars later and they still were not able to save her and we are left wondering would she still be alive if they would of done something sooner? Find another place to go!!!

I brought in a stray. They saved it, gave me detailed reports of care and kept the cost down. Great place.

Went here because of its convenience. It was the only hospital nearby and open late! i arrived at 9pm and was glad to see friendly staff and hard working doctors. My k9 was diagnosed with a sprained muscle in his ankle/foot. Dr. Hardesty answered all my questions and concerns. He even showed me my dogs xrays and gave me a copy to take home. All staff was very friendly and caring. Usually wait time at night isn't at all exsistent since its for emergencies. =] Great staff! Can't thank them enough. They saw my dog was in severe pain and gave him antibiotics and within less then a week he was all healed. Thank you Animal Emergency Clinic of Grand Terrace!!! I would totally recommend this place! It is a bit pricy since it is a hospital and most dogs dont have insurance but totally worth the money! I wouldnt doubt coming here, I left with a happy dog.

LJW of Rialto says "I've had to use this place more times than I would have liked over the years (not because of any problem with them but because going means a pet is in distress). Sometimes it takes a while, but like a human ER triage dictates that animals with more serious problems go first. We just took one kitty last night, and got a long-term problem diagnosed and threated for less than we thought it was going to cost based on the original estimate. We were talking with a lady in the waiting room who was bringing a dog back for a checkup after they'd had to treat some serious damage done by pit bulls. She'd been afraid they were going to lose the dog, and from what we could see he'd been pretty chewed up, but he was doing better and she was very happy with the clinic."

We've had the same vet tech at least twice, and she was patient and funny with our feeling frantic about our sick feline friend. We also found their price to be affordable, although the health problems we took our pet in for, although stressful and cause for major concern at the time, were not problems that required in-depth treatment -- so we just needed a diagnosis and medicines. Cathy says "Against all odds, Dr. Williams and staff SAVED Benson, my St. Bernard mix whose stomach had twisted. My journey started at VCA Animal Medical Center in Indio where in the TWO HOURS THEY HAD HIM, they gave him NONE OF THE LIFE SAVING TREATMENTS HE NEEDED while making sure to tell me Benson's going to be dead in about two hours. I was so upset, I called 411 on my cell and found this incredible facility.Now 3 hours since he arrived at the first emergency center, Benson's condition had worsened. He had to be brought in on a stretcher.Dr. Williams and staff took him right in, performed the gastric decompression that VCA should have done 2 hours earlier, stabilized him for surgery then performed the operation. Benson's make a full recovery. I'm telling everyone how great these folks are. I have veterinary experience and could see how well trained they are. So, here's the difference. Go to VCA with a life ending condition -- wait for two hours to get a bill for $500"

John V of Redlands says "I walked away from this clinic feeling like I had done my pet right. The nurse was nice and personable and the doctor was even more so. We left our cat for a couple hours while they took xrays and examined her. We called a little while later and they told us she was ready to be picked up. The doctor took me to a computer and showed me all the xrays, interpreting and explaining everything to me. She listened to my questions and was very thorough in her explanations. I felt like the integrity of this clinic was high. Take your pet here with confidence : )"

DO NOT GO! This place is terrible. Took my cat in because she was having trouble breathing. Gave her O2, took xrays and said she had a lot of fluid in her lungs. Kept her overnight, gave her diuretics to lessen the fluid, BUT later found out from regular vet it wasn't fluid, but instead an infection and the diuretics made it WORSE! She died hours later. ;-(



Now I'll always wonder if I could have saved my cat's life by taking her elsewhere, I'll always regret taking to AEC!

I used to work at the AEC. Great doctors and good people. They are most reasonably price in the county of Riverside. I would trust them with my animal any day. I now work in Orange County and if your complaining about prices, try checking out Orange County hell even the emergency in Murrieta. I read these reviews and I really only take 45% of most the complaints as true. The Lady whos animal was lost, it may or may not have been AEC fault. I sent my cat to Gateway and they lost her not the hospital I sent her off myself, watch them pick her up. I feel for you and Im sorry but sometimes it happens. Its called human error. Alot of reviews Ive read for my hospital as well as AEC all complain about the care or lack of care. Heres a news flash for all who are reading these reviews most of those people declined the service or could not afford to treat and opted for the lesser cost treatment, then when things go well who's blamed, The doctor who treated the animal or the facility as a whole. Not FAIR. Alot of problem clients write mean comments and swear to never return and often do return again with nasty attitudes and lack confidence in the doctor. They second guess the diagnosis, get on the internet or ask a friend who gives wrong advise. It all snowballs into a bad situation for the pet and again when it all turns out badly the hospital gets blamed for bad medicine. Keep in mind I write this in a general response to the few bad reviews using my experience in working in animal emergency.

After a short illness, we brought our dog in to the hospital on Friday night. Several tests indicated that she was not getting better, in fact, other health concerns were beginning to arise as a result. We were given the option of euthanasia, and after a long deliberation, we agreed that this might be for the best since we were told she was in pain. We were doing what we thought was dignified for our beloved friend. Before saying our goodbyes, we made arrangements through the hospital to have her remains cremated and opted to go through a company that also made an imprint of her pawprint. We were given a paper by the hospital staff, and told to call the next day to make arrangements, in which we did. Well, 3 days later we get a call informing us that there was never any notations in our file as to the cremation, and they had already disposed of all the animals that had passed away over the weekend. It felt like we had lost her all over again. Our last wish for our friend was to have her remains with us, and this was taken from us. She was part of our family for over 11 years, helped us raise our kids, slept in our girl's bed and played dress up with them even up until a few days before she got sick. She was not a stray we had found a week earlier. Yet, the doctor didn't seem to realize any of this because even though he was aware of what had happened, he never called to apoligize. My husband had to go down there to try to get some kind of explanation as to what had happened, and of course there was none.It is posted in the lobby at the hospital that all monies must be paid prior to releasing the pet or essentially a lien will be placed. WE paid for all services, and we did NOT get our pet back. I now feel so incompitant with this facility, I am second guessing their abilities, and their ethics. Was the right diagnosis even made? Our family is so heartbroken. It is hard enough trying to explain death and loss to children, especially a 5 and a 2 year old. But it is even harder to explain what has happened as a result of this hospitals negligence. She was such a great dog, and she deserved so much better than this...They took away our last request for our beloved friend.

I never complained about the amount of time that I was in your office. As a matter of fact that was probably the best thing about your clinic, on all three of my visits. Also, in regards to my kitten, I requested the xray. The tech/doctor that examined my kitten said that there really wasn't anything more that he could do for the kitten if it was found to be broken because the bones were so tiny. I insisted on the xray, it was not offered, the doctor actually tried to talk me out of having it done. As for the cost of supplies, I may not know what you pay, but I do purchase my vet wrap, gauze and other items from my local vet supply and do have an idea of what a length of vet wrap, a bit of gauze and a splint cost and it's not near the $78 I was charged and I pay retail. I stick by what I said before, it's a great place to take your animal if you know it is the end of their life, or if it does not require, I guess I should say, delicate bones. Hey you guys sewed my dad's dog up years ago and did a great job with some simple stitching.

Just visited this hospital not long ago. They were busy and had alot to deal with.I watched as a few people make asses of themselves over the wait on a dog and another was a cat, that weren't critical. We all watched 2 dogs who were attacked by other dog(s) horribly bleeding were admitted. As well as 1 hit by car dog whose leg was obviously broken and a cat hardly breathing were rushed to the back for immediate help. People you have to realize those critically injured animals will and always will take top priority over your dog with an itchy ear and cat with the sniffles. It is after all an EMERGENCY clinic and you could very well have waited to see your own vet in the morning. Im sure when you really have an emergency you will be treated with top priority. Give them a break, they are doing their job and Im sure its not an easy one at times.

I have not had a bad experience with this vet, however, because it is one of only a very few after hours vets in the area I know several people who have had to utilize their services, some good some bad. I agree with the above review when it comes to broken bones. I know of three different people who have had to take their small breed dogs in for broken legs and all three have had the same experience. They were all told that their dogs’ leg was being set, only to find out the next day that the leg was far worse than on the original x-ray. Of the three only one did not need major surgery to repair the dogs’ leg. The one dog that did not need surgery had to have it's leg re-set by their regular vet and was told that there was a good chance that the dog may either have to have surgery or might have growth plate problems. Luckily the dog is okay with no apparent gate problems. My one friend took the disk with the original x-ray into the vet and was told that had he seen the dog in its "original" condition it would have cost her less than half of what it cost her to go to a specialist in LA County.

As for cost, I am fortunate enough to be able to vet my animals for most of their medical needs, so I am aware of what supplies cost, and what their mark-up is.



As for the Clinics response to the original review. I did not see any complaint about time in the facility, only about cost and repair of her animal. I don't know about her kitten or her dog, but it was only a digital x-ray that my friends received, not sure what cost is on that, but would assume that overhead is pretty low once the equipment is paid off.
