My story



For as long as I can remember, I have had back issues but nothing could prepare me for what was to come.



Back in October of 2014, I was ready to get back to work so I took a job as a housekeeper at a hotel until I found an office job. It is a very physically demanding job but I thought “hey, I’ll be OK”…boy was I wrong…on so many levels. Every day that I went in, my back got worse until one day, I literally could not stand, let alone walk. When my back would go out previously, I would be down for the count for a couple of days but then would be back to “normal”. This time though, it just kept getting worse and worse.



I could not sit or stand without excruciating pain, I could not do either without help from my husband, and even my 5 year old son was helping me. When I was finally able to get to the standing position, I was not able to stand straight and was leaning to the left at a 90 degree angle.



Enter the walker: Yup, I was so bad that I had to use a walker just to get to the bathroom!



I worked for a Chiropractor about 6 years ago and while working there I got free adjustments. He took an X-ray of my back and in his quirky humor he told me “your tires are half bald”. Great I thought. He only did manual adjustments and when he went to adjust my neck I tensed up thus creating my neck issues, immediate consumption of in-effective Tylenol and a complete fear of Chiropractic Services.

After a few weeks of excruciating pain, my husband Bret finally called Susan Roberts (with my kicking and screaming the whole way) and she got me in immediately to i-Chiro so that the Doctors there could work their magic! It was not immediate relief but every day that I went in I felt a little better.



Not only was I getting relief in my back but I was migraine free from an everyday migraine for the first time in about 6 years. I do still get headaches but I am Tylenol free and rely on my chiropractic services to relieve any tension that I am having. Going to see the Doctors and staff at i-Chiro is truly the highlight of my day because I know that I will feel much better walking out of there.



While I am still not where I should be, I feel human again and will continually seek out chiropractic care from i-Chiro so that my issues do not deteriorate. I am not willing to settle for disability as I know that I have a lot of life left in me and want to live it!



I cannot express my gratitude enough to the staff at i-Chiro and I will be forever grateful to them. Without them I know that I would not have healed to the point that I am at now and would probably have had to go on disability.

I have been receiving care from Peak Performance Chiropractic in Northeast Grand Rapids for several years. I budget this care into my Health Care Spending account each year so I can receive care once per week. This seems optimal for keeping me at my "Peak Performance". Without the care of Dr. Mike and Dr. Mark, I am sure I would feel much older than I do today. They keep me feeling young! The office staff is great to work with.
