I've worked w/ Ervine's for 2 years now. Coming from a small town w/ only a few local mechanics, the situation in GR is crowded. There are so many repair/maintenance shops to choose from that one must wonder where to guarantee genuine quality service. Ervine's offers great flexibility helping w/ your vehicle. In an area w/ so many options, don't hesitate to call and see how they can help with big or small questions or issues w/ your car. The crew at Ervine's is trustworthy and treats you with respect which help takes the stress out of car repairs. The office management is available, plus the mechanics always explain repairs in an understandable way because they have legit certifications. Repair costs are priced where they should be for the degree of service offered. Check them out!

My wife's 2008 Toyota Prius died while she was driving it, and instead of taking the car to the Toyota dealer, we decided to do an internet search for shops that work on hybrid cars, Ervine's came up first, and had decent reviews, so we towed the car there even though it was further away than the dealership. We did not have the same experience as the reviewers did.

Eric said it would be 90 dollars for a battery scan, never once saying that the battery may not be the problem, so he ran the scan and said it wasn't the problem. He needed to do another scan for another 90, but I was baffled why it took an hour to find out the battery was fine (I don't think it actually did), so he told us he needed to run a separate scan for another 90 bucks. At this point he has us over a barrel, we aren't going to tow the car somewhere else, so begrudgingly we agreed, hoping he would maybe do the right thing and take something off of the total bill. It ended up being the mass air flow sensor, a very easy fix that he wanted 240 dollars for. We told him not to, and paid the 190 with tax for the two scans, that was 190 dollars to find an air flow sensor problem.

When I called and asked if he could do anything about the bill and to ask why it took an hour to find out a battery was fine, he was very stand-offish, and said "I wanted to do a good job and go over everything 2-3 times"...what?????? Why am I paying for him to "go over everything 2-3 times". He also said I was "Ignorant" as to how a Prius works, then quickly said "maybe ignorant is the wrong word", I was just totally unimpressed with his shop and with his attitude.

I called the dealership, and they said it would have been 120 dollars for the total scan of everything. So if you want to pay higher than dealership prices, go to Ervine's, if not, try somewhere else.

Had car towed there Thursday after making an appointment and she couldn't find it in the computer so that was a hassle. IT IS a high end shop that being said they will charge you 90 dollars just to look at your car for their "Full Diagnostic Repair" They did not even bring the car inside the garage! They looked at it outside with a machine for 10 minutes and determined that the engine was seized, okay good we found the problem. Now we ask him if he thinks it is worth fixing? He says he doesn't know because this is the first time he has looked at the car. Okay we just paid you $90 to evaluate it and provide a list of repairs. Did we get one? No. SO BE WARY IT IS JUST A QUICK $90 FOR THEM WITHOUT REALLY DOING WHAT THEY SAY THEY WILL. You don't get a list or anything. I think they were just really busy that weekend, but they should say that they are not taking cars at this time or something not charge us full price for a 10 minute check, partially my fault also, I should have brought it to a free inspection shop. But we saw all the rave reviews and decided to try it out. For the engine it was either new or scrap yard with 45 day warranty? Um no thanks. Bruce was nice enough. The real problems begin with trying to take the car back home! The secretary calls me tuesday morning saying if the car is not removed from the lot we will be charged a storage fee because they don't have a big lot, which is true. But I feel like we just brought the car there considering they are not open weekends. Okay we still had not decided what we wanted to do with it at this point because they didn't get back to us until late on Friday and we wanted to talk more to him on monday about our options. SO at this point we are all stressed out about getting it back and not paying the fee. So we go there to find maybe 3 cars on the lot including ours! Yeah they really need the space! We call AAA and they have to get approval from the shop before taking it off their property. So they call and then the secretary says she is out of state and doesn't know what going on! It was after hours but it transfers to her cell apparently! So after driving all the way out there we can't even get it back because she doesn't know anything about it! Like if we paid the $90. Which we did. So basically she threatens us with a fee then won't let us take our car back. They close at 5 and I get out of work at 430. Finally later in the week they let us get it towed without a fee. But what a hassle to get OUR car back! Bad communication between everyone there! Then I sent them his review postcard back and never got my $20 coupon he said I would get for completing the review not that I would have used it anyway. But just another example of how they don't really care about your time or money. Unless you are a loyal customer, family or friends I wouldn't recommend it because they will not treat you with any respect or decency. Also no loaner car was offered.

I love Ervines! There is no way that I will ever take my car anywhere else. Jamie is always smiling when I walk in the door and asks how my kids are doing and makes sure I get a nice cup of coffee. Eric and Bruce are wonderful. For years they have always explained exactly what is wrong with my car in terms that I, someone who has no clue about how cars works can understand. I never leave confused or unhappy. Ervines is the greatest, I would and do recommend them to all my family and friends!

Right the First Time

We take our vehicles to Ervine's Auto Repair because we can trust that the work will be done right the first time. They also have a loaner car available, at no charge, which has helped us out several times when our car needed repairs but we still needed a vehicle." ~ Mike and Sue Lewis
