I couldn't be happier with my experiences with Dr. Happel. She took excellent care of my pups! I'd highly recommend.

Very disappointing

The staff were very friendly & knowledgable. However - I brought my cat in for some dental issues. They informed me his care would be between $900 & $1,540 and they would not know until he was under anesthetic exactly what needed to be done. I couldn't believe the cost and asked if I could put half down & make payments every two weeks. They said no. Luckily my mom suggested we get a second opinion. A vet clinic in Byron Center is doing ALL the work for $180. They also gave my pet a shot for pain when I brought him in for a consult. You do the math ! Very unhappy my local vet would be ripping people off this bad...

Dr. Happel has hundreds and hundreds of hours of additional training in veterinary dentistry compared to other general practicioners. She is able to identify and treat many painful dental conditions that other veterinarians may not recognize. We are also an AAHA accredited veterinary clinic which means we practice a much higher standard of patient care. https://www.aahanet.org/Accreditation/Default.aspx Those two things together with specialized staff training does cost a bit more. We are very proud of our knowledge and level of patient care!

There is no where better than Eastown Veterinary Clinic. The staff is as friendly as they come. They are always willing to help you no matter the circumstances. My dog has spent a lot of her puppy hood visiting them and I have never once had a bad experience. Dr. Happel is very knowledgeable and extremely friendly. I would recommend this veterinary to anyone!! I just absolutely love Eastown Veterinary Clinic!!!

I would like to thank Dr. Happel and the staff at Eastown Veterinary Clinic for the amazing veterinary care they provide to my personal cats/dogs and rescue/foster pups. They are extremely knowledgeable regarding preventative and diagnostic veterinary medicine. I have experienced veterinary care in 3 others states; my animals have received the best care from Eastown Veterinary Clinic. I am an extremely particular cat/dog owner and want answers to all my questions. Dr. Happel is amazing at applying her scientific knowledge. I have friends who travel 1.75 hours for veterinary care at Eastown Veterinary Clinic. Love Eastown Veterinary Clinic!! Thomas G.

Dr. Happel and all of the staff are wonderful. We have been with them from the very beginning. They are friendly, knowledgeable, innovative, and state-of-the art. There is on-line management of our pets and we even got a Birthday card for the puppy! We are so happy to have a top-knotch vet in our neighborhood. We often just stop by on our walks to say hello and get a treat. I encourage everyone with a pet in the area to check them out!

Front desk girl seemed uninterested and incompetent, the vet here did not seem caring at all, just seemed cold and interested in the money. It was very, very expensive and impersonal. I would never trust my pets care in their hands, look elsewhere!

This was a horrible experience...

This was a horrible experience. I decided to take my year old boxer here for his yearly exam because it was so close and convenient. I went in with high expectations being that it is a new business in Easttown. Though the staff we friendly, I felt as though I was being sold to. They just kept saying all of these vaccines and things that my dog "needed" if I wanted to get them. They left the decisions up to me and didn't further explain why he needed them other than handing me a brochure about the vaccine. My dog also had to little lumps on his stomach that we needed to get checked out. After looking at them and testing them with a needle all the vet said is that they will go away with no explanation of what it even was, and of course this examination of the lumps cost me around $70. A co worker of mine also had a similar experience with Dr. Happel, she has an older dog and needed some antibiotics for an infection on her face. She was told that the antibiotics would cost $150! After going to another vet in Grand Rapids to get a second opinion she go the same medicine for free!!! I feel that they are taking advantage of people and how much we love our pets. They are looking to make money not to help the animals, or their owners. I would NOT recommend going here!!!

Greetings, I hate to give a l...

Greetings,

I hate to give a low rating to Ea Veterinary Clinic but my overall experience there was unsatisfactory.

1. I was not greeted or acknowledge by the receptionist the 5 - 10 minutes I was in the waiting area. I understand the receptionist was on the phone regarding the computer system but the conversation was casual and a quick " I'll be with you in a second" would of been an appropriate gesture. I was eventually greeted by a young lady who was very friendly but still was not acknowledged by the receptionist.

2. I originally stopped in to Eastown Vet to purchase heart worm/flea medication for my dog. I just moved to GR from out of state, so I do not have a vet. I had been purchasing the meds through another clinic on the East side of the state with no problems, I simply show the clinic proof of vaccinations/heart worm test results and buy the meds. Eastown informed me that I would have to bring my dog in for a $45.00 office visit to purchase the med.

3. There was not a single patient in the clinic.

My husband and I use to own a small business so I fully support local businesses. First impressions are a must! Nickel and diming your customers is distasteful.

D.Wells, thanks for the feedback on our reception presence, we will work on that. I still can't help you with the heartworm prevention... The State of Michigan requires a valid client-doctor-patient relationship, which is defined as an annual physical exam, to sell prescription medications. Flea prevention is regulated by the EPA, not the FDA, so no such relationship is required. I'm kinda a rule follower...Hope that helps! -Dr Happel
